Find me a Samsung Galaxy A73 Deal

Currently have a Galaxy S10 that I'm wanting to retire.

I liked it and it wasn't bad but I was very underwhelemed given the cost and Exynos processor.

I'm ideally looking for an A73 as a cheaper buy it outright device to replace it, cheapest I can find currently for sale would be getting Office Works to price Match JB Hi-Fi for around $616. There's also someone selling it on the forums here for $630 which I was considering offering.

Not in a rush regardless, open to other phones as well but I need an SD card and would prefer a 90Hz+ Screen and a bigger battery. Budget is $600 max and I do not want grey imports.

  • $639.20 on EPP, so I would just get it from OW/JB (could buy discounted gift cards)

  • You may as well spring for the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE, it comes with a Snapdragon 888 SoC, better cameras and even though it's based on the older S21 design, it was released in 2022 meaning you'll get longer period of updates compared to the vanilla S21.

It frequently goes on sale — it was discounted 3~4 times in August.

Alternatively you can ask the Samsung reps for a loyalty discount though your mileage will vary.

    • S21 FE has Exynos 2100 and battery life isn't great.

I like the look of Motorola Edge 30 Fusion which has a Snapdragon 888+ SoC and better battery life than the S21 FE (I think).

      • I see, google search results gave me the wrong specs https://i.imgur.com/MrTF5ae.png

Seems like the Snapdragon is exclusive to the USA.

        • Yep I only realised after I bought it haha

@Mr Haj: One advantage of Samsung over other phone brands is their long software update policy

            https://www.androidauthority.com/phone-update-policies-16586…

            • Samsung: Four upgrades and five years of security patches (for S-series and the newer A-series)

            • Google: three upgrades and five years of patches for the Pixel devices

            • Motorola - Two upgrades and three years of bi-monthly patches to the Motorola Edge 30 series

Samsung & Google phones seem to the best with longevity in this regard.

    • Galaxy S21 FE is the worst Samsung phone that I have ever owned.
Way inferior to the Galaxy S9+ from which I upgraded.
My next smartphone will be an iPhone.

    • There's a huge size difference between the two.

    • Accidentally down voted you sorry!

I would, but no memory card slot and it doesn't have a snapdragon. I thought that they all had the Snapdragon but apparently I'm wrong. Solid phone when it's at $600 or so though.

If you aren't in a rush maybe another eBay Plus deal will pop up? We've gotten a few of our most recent phones including my current A73 via eBay Plus deals. I got it for around the $550 mark a little while ago. That was then beaten by the Afterpay/eBay Plus deal a few weeks later.

    • This is what I'm thinking, the office works price beat of $616 is tempting however.

  • Was $499 a few weeks ago at HN and other places, I dithered too long and missed it. Waiting for it to come back on sale now.

The A73 5g costs 800. Activate Education store discount to bring it down to 680. Then trade in some old broken screen phone for $1. Activate a $150 trade in bonus to bring it down to 530. Then use the newsletter sign-up $50 voucher to bring the price to 480. Activate 2.8% cashback to bring price to 466.

    • That's mental - I do have access to the Education store.

However I don't see the $150 bonus trade in, a Galaxy S5 gets $5 of trade in value but people are crazy and want $100 or more for them working and $50+ non-working…

Might get lucky on FB marketplace/eBay. You can check the value of devices with broken parts on the Samsung website.

  • Found a good deal myself and posted it, noting not the best it's ever been and you could the Samsung Education Store + Trade in + $50 sign up bonus.

May be worth holding out on though, I'm just keen to sell my S10.
