OLED Buying in Q3/Q4 2022

So I was in between houses, and I've missed the recent sales on last generation OLEDs and wondering what I should do.

I've had my eye on getting a larger size OLED for 2-3 years, originally was all over the 65 LG CX then C1, then started considering the G1 and have saved up enough to go for a 77 inch, well in theory, I'm budgeting $5k approximately.

The C2/G2 etc generation, imo, are still hugely more expensive than the outgoing C1/G1s were across the size range.

I am set on getting an OLED and am mostly interested in LG for their lower latency, 120hz with HDMI 2.1(esk, 40gbps), compared to the others.

So is there anywhere / way to find a 77 C1 or G1? At this point, I'm considering returning to 65 inch if I can find one, really wanted 77 but I think if I sit close enough :) 65 should still be good.

Sounds like a sliding doors moment.

    • Great movie, thanks.

I'd call around as much as possible and ask in person. You might find one the system has missed v one that shows as available. This may require asking for more than just do you have one. A good salesperson will help you understand the viability of this though..

Good luck with the search, please update us if you find one. Avid lover of my c1 and how ozb helped me with my purchase.

    • Cheers ok I'll give that a shot, probably in person at the major stores (JB, HN, etc)

  • You could negotiate a better price for lg g2 77 at jb hifi or good guys etc.
    I was offered $4100 for g2 65.

Get a Sony QD-OLED and call it a day. Higher brightness which regular Oled has been lacking compared to LCD, it has better heatsink so burn-in won't be a problem for many years to come.

Doesn't seem like an urgent purchase. I would wait till the one you want is within budget.

Dude you stuffed around way too much the C1 and G1 are gone, you might get lucky and get a display model… might as well pony up with discounted TCN cards next when they're 15% off and wait for black friday and get the C2

I paid $5.5k for my 77C1 and absolutely love it didn't get the best deal at the time but I'll probably get 10 years out of it if it lasts and to me that was worth paying a little extra at the time, life is too short to worry about a couple hundred bucks

I agree, life's too short to worry about getting the best deal ever.

Having said that, I paid about $6.6k for my 83" C1 from ebay/harvey norman & cash rewards during Black Friday, it still seems a reasonable price today when I searched online.

I bought the G1 for $4700 from JB HiFI. It is sensational and I had a 65' panasonic OLED prior.

77' is huge and a massive uplift from 65. no need to 85' and the price point is spot on.

Personally I don't think the G2 is worth another $2k on top.

Ring around and see if you can jag a G1 from JB they can check stock from the local store and i bought my tv over the phone and asked for their best price. all purchased in 5 minutes. delivered within 3 days.

in 3 or 4 years you can upgrade again

Just wait until Black Friday in a couple of months time.

I'm sure you will be able to get the 77" C2 for about $5k shortly.

  • For anyone interested, I ended up finding a great deal on an S95B 65" for $3640 delivered, 65" is the TV I was coming from, an old TCL LED LCD so, I'm happy with the size, yeah 77 is amazing but the picture quality of these TVs is unreal so, I think it's worth it.
