  • What trick? A$649.95 with 1-year GoPro subscription?

      What trick?

The ozbargainer telepathic discount loophole. Only available to Ozbargain Premium user.

The old trick was to place an order for the camera + subscription deal, pay with Paypal, then immediately cancel the Gopro payment permission in Paypal… They charge for the camera immediately but they charge the subscription a while later, so with the payment permission being blocked they could never charge for the sub (which was $70 last year), they send a couple of payment reminders then cancel the sub, so you get the camera at the discounted price and dont have to pay for the sub… (I got the 10 bundle with spare battery + charger, + 3rd battery, + silicon case, for $575 with this method)

Not sure if it still works…

        BRO! That's a great deal

It was a great deal, it ended up only costing me $125 to upgrade from the 8….
The 10 invoice: https://i.postimg.cc/qq76k0R8/Gopro-Hero-10.jpg (take the $70 sub fee off the total, I dodged paying that)

I sold my Hero8 + accessories for $450 just as the 10 came out, the 8 had cost me $450 + $83 worth of extras 2 years earlier, so I effectively had the use of the 8 for 2 years for $83…

I'll keep the 10 for a couple of years and hopefully do a similar upgrade, lol.. With the cost of these bloody things and the ongoing yearly improvements you need to kinda juggle them for it to be cost effective, they're too expensive to just throw in a drawer when you get a new one…

    • 1-year GoPro subscription?

what is this ? will camera stops working without subscription ?

      • +1

GoPro Subscription offers the most premium GoPro experience including unlimited cloud storage, camera replacement, and more.

Unlimited cloud backup + auto uploads
Unlimited use of the Quik app
Up to 50% off at GoPro.com
        No-questions-asked camera replacement

You get a considerable discount on camera or bundle if you get the free 1-year subscription.

A couple of things to be mindful of with the subscription…

          • once your subscription expires all your videos get deleted from the cloud.
          • You can only buy discounted batteries with a new camera, batteries can't be shipped without a camera purchase..
          • accessories are discounted a decent amount but once you add shipping they're generally cheaper to buy locally, so it's only really cost effective to buy accessories with a new camera.
          • the camera replacement service costs you a bit, currently $150aud for the Hero10 https://gopro.com/en/au/legal/plus-fees

So, if you're buying a new camera on a subscription, grab your spare batteries and accessories at the same time ;)

I'd be inclined to wait a bit for a better or bundle deal… Last year they were doing the 10 with spare battery and dual-charger + sub for $600, and a lot of us dodged paying the $70 sub fee so it was only $530…

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/product/gopro-hero10-black

Be mindful you can only order subscriber discounted spare batteries from Gopro with a camera purchase, so it's best to grab them with your initial order…

It also looks like they're charging $26 shipping this year :(

Thats actually come down, it was $52 a couple of weeks ago.

They also bill you from overseas, so use your international fee-free card.

    Just Pulled the trigger.

Thank you ALL, seems like its not working anymore.

Mods, can close this now please. thanks.

The thread might as well be left open for general Gopro 11 chatter… Maybe just edit your original post to say the old trick to avoid paying for the subscription no longer works…

I see JB Hifi has it for $799
      https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/gopro-hero11-black-5-3k-h…
TGG have a banner for it but it's not listed yet….

No doubt they'll have deals in the coming weeks…

      • A lot cheaper still at the Gopro website. Paid roughly 700ish including the new 2 batteries and dual charger. I still have few batteries still from my gp9. But yeah, 38% extra is huge.

        Thanks.

        • Gopro are shocking if you have issues, buying local is better when practical, but yeh, it was the same for me last year, Gopro worked out much cheaper at the time so I got it from them.. Thankfully I haven't had any issues….

(I sold off my 8 just as the 10 was released, I wanted to offload the 8 while it was still worth good money, I didn't want to wait until better local 10 deals appeared because then the 8 would be worth less, so Gopro was my only option really)

I've never regretted the 8 to 10 switch, the 8 was always a bit buggy for me, the 10 has been pretty good, it kinda suits what I'm doing at the moment… I cant see myself upgrading for a while…

They make a new model every year, do they? I still have the GoPro 5 that I hardly used. One of my OzBargain impulse purchases over the years. 🤬

A new flagship "Black" model comes out every year, this year they're pumping out 4 new models, lol

      • Hero10 Bones - A lightweight barebones Hero10 designed for drones
      • Hero11 Black - Released today
      • Hero11 Mini - a smaller 11 with a fixed battery and limited functionality, due for release 25th Oct,
      • Max 2 - an update of their Max 360 degree action cam, they say it will come out later in the year
  • I want the new go pro but can’t buy online as leaving for travelling on Tuesday and it won’t get delivered in time. Will anywhere price match?

  • does anyone know if I buy it from the gopro site can I get my TRS tax refund at the airport?

    • My invoice from last year has this on it:
      VAT/GST Reg No:
Australia GST# 35 131 583 413 (which seems to be a legit ABN number or the likes)

      2021 Invoice:
      https://i.postimg.cc/Gp9G2RYH/2021-Gopro.jpg

With an invoice like that detailing the GST I would assume you could claim the GST back, but don't hold me to that…
