Has Anyone Used SameDayHotwaterService? Experience?

So my hot water system has decided to retire and I am looking to get a new one. I have a gas storage water system and I am looking to replace it with like for like. I have spoken to Samedayhotwaterservice and thinking of going with them including installation. Before I go with them, just wondering if anyone else had HWS installed by them (especially in VIC)?

I had my gas hot water heater replaced by them about 6 months ago. Their price and service were both excellent.

    • May I ask what heater did you get?

    • Not quite, a guy I know got quote $2k for a 80l electric storage from these mob but they couldn't even get it done next day. In the end he settled with someone referred to him but still $2k something for a 150l tank.
Same day service is a rip these days, if you can put up with a few days of no shower then it should be much less. $800 for a new tank and $400 for simple labour is plenty, if it gets to $2k you better dump storage tank altogether and go with heat pump or instantaneous gas.

      • Would be nice to know the models for both, otherwise it could be comparing apples with oranges

        • Mate, what's in it of the electric storage, they are all dinosaur tech and certainly not made out 24 carat gold. Dux, rheem, aquamax or rinnai they're all the same with a heating element or two. For gas it's even easier as there is no anode corrosion issue, no electronic board failure so it's a big waste of money to go for something fancy that's not even exists. They're are all plain boring Cavendish banana.

I did recently (although I'm in Sydney) - can't say much wrong with the service, and it was the cheapest.

I purchased a Rheem hws from them but had my own plumber install it.
Pilot light kept going out because the hole for the gas was not drilled large enough.
They came out and repaired it.
Then had a leaking pressure relief valve and since it was just out of warranty they wanted nothing to do with me.

  • Thanks everyone. I might give them a go and see what happens.

Hey mate i got a Rinnai b26 done by them recently, solid so far- COC was sent about 10 days later, they do them in batches.

I don't know about the guys you're asking about specifically, but expect to pay a premium for anything that's "same day".

It’s only the name. Their price actually is cheaper than others (at least the units I am looking at). You can get it installed by anyone of your choice. Also to avoid paying premium I am in no rush to get it installed on same day.

    • Company is actually "Solargain", which is the name on their perth office.

He has an awesome youtube channel BTW:

I literally used them a few weeks ago in Melbourne. Price on site was the actual price; plumber came and saw he had to use extra copper piping so price went up a little, but he was upfront about it before any work began. Got the IHW Dux Condensing unit

    Yep, all good. Sydney.

On a second look, their price for the rinnai b26 instantaneous is very reasonable (with a big BUT). Only a fool would pay more for the gas storage system. The rinnai is guaranteed to be twice as efficient in terms of energy cost, BUT you need to be sure your gas pipe can handle the output, if no existing 20mm pipe nearby expects the cost to go up depending on the pipe run. And if the main gas line hasn't been upgraded expect another price bump.

    • i got this unit installed last year, had to widen the gas pipes to to have more supply of gas this was only like $260+ extra.

Continuous Flow Hot Water systems are awesome as you get unlimited hot water supply unlike the old units with a tank

The issues I find annoying with CHWS is that it needs minimum water flow and can take a while for hot water to reach to the tap and if disconnected for some reason during shower, you will again have to wait for hot water to reach you.

So many reviews about same issues

      • That is true to an extent. I have a decent sized home and with my old chws it took 30-50seconds for hot water to come to my room.

I got a new condensing unit recently installed; and it comes hot within about 20 seconds now
