Sodstream Bottle with Faulty Pin. Will Woolies Give a Free Replacement ?

The refilled Sodastream bottle that I got from Woolies had a faulty pin.

The very first time I used it, the pin got stuck in the open position & entire bottle immediately discharged & my $19 refill cost was wasted.

Would Woolies be willing to give me a free replacement with a new refilled bottle if I take it to the service desk at my local supermarket ?

I'm guessing it's not going to be easy to try & convince the counter staff that the bottle was indeed faulty.

Or, would it be better to try & chase Sodastream themselves for a new refilled bottle ?

Doesn't really matter what anyone says as it'll depend on the customer service person you speak to. Most reps don't care enough to question anything. Try it and find out.

If it doesn't work out, try another store or the manufacturer direct. Not rocket science.

    • Agreed. For the most part, Woolies' view (and that of similar large retailers) is that it's just cheaper and easier to give someone a replacement than stuff about with all the hoo-ha.

It's not guaranteed, but most returns at supermarkets at straight forward processes.

How long ago did you buy it?, if you have a receipt from a couple of days ago and it's returned empty today it would suggest there was an issue, but, if you bought it weeks ago it may be harder to convince them…

Take it back to Woolies with the receipt and explain to them what happened. They should just give you a new one. When i used to work at a servo, we had customers coming in all the time with problems with their newly swapped tanks. Our manager used to just swap it for a new one and then sort it out later with Sodastream.

    • Thanks.

I had a similar one where my canister would take a long time to stop hissing out gas after pressing. I contacted Sodastream and they sent me an email with an authorisation to exchange at my local (in this case it was a woolies)

  • Why are you asking us rather than just going to Woolworths? Put a nice shirt on and I'm sure the 17 year old won't care at all.

  • +1 on the adaptor. family of 4 and all I spend is around 20 a year now

  • I use these https://www.kegland.com.au/plastic-carbonation-line-cleaning…
Shake a 1125ml bottle for 30 secs all done with a 6KG co2 and reg full open for the fridge and have 600ml coke bottles filled to take for work.

  • Please let us know here…after you ask the actual people that can answer that question; Woolworths, then ask Soda Stream for a 2nd opinion if required
