Why Do I Have to Re-Login Every 3 Hours?

Since 2FA was added, I keep getting logged out of OZB every couple of hours. I don’t use the site on any other device except my phone.
Using Firefox on iOS if that’s any use.
Anything changed on cookies we should know?

  • Session is kept with one single cookie. It's defaulted to 30 minutes for guest sessions and 30 days for user sessions. Do you have any addons on Firefox that clean up session cookies every couple of hours?

  • Hi scotty, no I don’t have addons on this one. I had my firefox tracking protection set to strict for a while before this started happening.
I reckon it started when I was prompted for 2FA and kept logging me off a few times afterwards.

Do you need any logs if this happens again?

  • I have this same behaviour on Brave browser, but think for me brave browser is clearing cookies and hence the issue or feature for me 🙂

    • True but I don’t clear cookies on exit, and it is still logged in if I close firefox and start it within a short period.
It just logged me out after my previous post 7 hours ago 🤷‍♂️

  • Was speaking to a friend who works for the local council, and they’re implementing 2FA for their systems and you have to re-authenticate every 2 hours

  • Still happening
    Still annoying

    • Tried to use Safari? Just trying to figure out what might be causing issues for you. 2FA shouldn't be introducing the session expiry issue, as all sessions have fixed expiry (30 days as I've explained before). There are other iOS users that don't have this issue. I'll try to find an iOS device to install Firefox to test out.

      • Yes I thought about using Safari for a few days and see if it happens again.
Good to know for me was
You can’t login into safari with the 2FA link generated from logging from firefox. I had to generate another 2FA link.

I’m having a similar issue. Firefox on iOS always logging me out. Usually asks for email code, sometimes logs straight back in with password. Getting a bit annoying. I was using Firefox on Android before with no issues.

Had enhanced tracking protection set to standard, as opposed to strict. Will try turning it off altogether to see it fixes things.

So I wasn’t dreaming it all up 😂
I’m now mostly browsing ozb on safari just so I don’t have to deal with Firefox logout issue.

      • Still happening! You have your sanity intact.

Would be great if iOS had proper alternative browser support, engines and all.

  • Happening here. Firefox on iOS as well

  • Happening to me too, Safari on iOS. Google login is also broken, it leads to a white page

    • Is this still happening for you? We haven't been able to reproduce the issue so far.

      • Yeah it is, working on my pixel 7 pro though

        • Would you be able to provide more details of when it doesn't work, please? For example,

          • Are you already signed in to your Google account on your browser
          • What happens straight after you click on 'Sign in to Google' - do you get the intermediate page in a smaller window displayed by Google, then a white page; or do you get the white page straight after clicking the button?
          • @moocher:

            1. Already signed in to google in browser
            2. white page straight after
            • @Quarter Pounder: Thanks. Usually the first page that's loaded is a Google page. Unfortunately I can't reproduce the issue to be able to assess what the problem is.

              • @moocher: Also another thing broken is resetting password. I've reset my password like 3 times and it still thinks it is invalid

Needed to log in about 5 times today.

    • Google Chrome on Pixel 8 Pro.

I'm getting repeatedly logged out today (Google Chrome on Mac)

    • yup same

      • Still happening.

Happening here on Android. Using Chrome, if that helps.

No MFA prompt, as I think I checked the remember this device.

    • Seems to have been fixed for me. I haven't changed anything, but noticed I'm still signed in to ozb
