How on earth would you expect MBP to be 1.8 cm thin and still have upgradeable SSD & RAM? :)
This is impossible - these parts are soldered into the logic board to keep MBP thin.

Most people would expect it to be upgradable, also no need for the negative tone.

Ps. Im not a PC fanboy I own a 2011 MBP.

As good as the engineering is, fusing the screen to the lid, glueing the battery to the chassis and making the soldering the memory on board into the MBP also means it's virtually unrepairable. So if the RAM dies, the SSD reaches end of life or if you crack the screen…. you can pretty much say bye to your Macbook and hello to another expensive one.

Soon Apple computers will be entirely non-modular - nothing removable and upgradable. Sounds like a very good way to make money to me.

The Aspire S3 Ultrabook has a user removable 7mm hard disk. I don't see why a 1.8 CM Macbook couldn't have user removable SSD's.

      • ^my point exactly

Also the battery is glued in.. so after a few years you cant even get a new one of them :/

        • planned obsolescences at its best. Though if you do have warranty and it fails within that period, you could get it fixed through apple but outside that period they'll charge a pretty penny for it.

Apple wont make the same mistake with their ipods all those years ago with the non-removable battery issues so they'll be ways of getting it fixed.

Im assuming most apple buyers will spring for apple care with this new model, I know I would.

        • i'm not worried about ram… it has 16gb and ram rarely fails

the use of proprietry ssd format is a bummer though
