Although the COD brand has been run into the ground, modern warfare games are generally better
Modern Warfare are better and the fact that its Infinity Ward as Developer and not Sledgehammer already positions the game as a winner…

The beta was always going to be free (despite some people trying to sell keys). Was just a timed exclusive for those who preordered.
It's currently free for everyone on PlayStation as an exclusive.
Next weekend it'll be open for 48 hours on every platform (Xbox, PS, Steam, Bnet) for people who have pre-ordered - starting at 3am Friday the 23rd for most Aussies
Then on Sunday 25th at 3am~ it'll be open for the public until the 27th.

The game is really decent. It's basically MW2019, without the awful maps. Graphically it looks exactly the same, but the game just feels really balanced and polished. It doesn't feel new compared to MW2019, just like a better quality version of it.

I'm not sure I understand your logic, the maps in MW2019 basically made the game unplayable.
It's really hard to understate how the maps in this game (at least that I've played in the beta) make this a far superior experience. Of course, just my opinion.

This has become like FIFA where each year's iteration is so tiny and incremental that you have to wait for 5 years later before you notice anything has chaned.
Still have fond memories of Modern Warfare 2 coming out in 2009 when the world was burning from the GFC and while mum and dad were busy working and stressing about finances i was sitting at home racking up hours on this just living my best life.
Then adulthood hit and it sucked.
I think Activision change the release model, They are going to release every 3 years not every one year anymore.
They have three different developers so it's a three year cycle
Previously it was a game every year but MWII will be the only CoD for 2022 and 2023. A new title will come out in 2024, breaking the cycle.

Haven’t played a COD game since the Xbox 360, always been more into Battlefield, Battlefront and Titanfall 2… given the state of Battlefield atm I tried the MW2 beta and I gotta say I’m pretty impressed… I heard good things about the 2019 Modern Warfare but never played it… I think I’m going to buy this on launch.

This is developed by Infinity Ward (same dev as COD MW 2019)….far superior to the other COD pretenders. IW are the only COD games I buy.
That's why there's an open beta for you to try yourself before pre-ordering.
Btw this game is already far better than bf2042 even with all the fixes.
