Similar to previous deals, but only 11% this time.

I just booked through the Shopback app for a weekend away in October and it tracked within 10 mins.

I've noticed the price is cheaper without shopback. Once you open shopback the price increases 10%

    • It shows the same price with / without shopback for me.

      • In that case, check Expedia for a better deal

    • If thats the case, then thats a dog act on behalf of booking.com.

As I say in other booking.com deals for both CR and SB, the cashback providers are not the ones that are increasing the prices. It is booking.com as they monitor you through cookies. The more you revisit a page, the higher for a potential increase in price as they monitor you through cookies

I checked the price on my phone through the app vs browser on the PC.

      Same price.

Although the cheapest option which I was about to book yesterday had been removed.

Yes, the prices will change for many hotels depending on how you access the booking site (this applies to all hotel aggregators, not just booking.com)

      • Visiting directly as guest? Different price
      • Visiting directly but logged into your account? Different price
      • Visiting the same hotel page a few days after you previously looked at it? Different (higher) price
      • Visiting through a cashback site? Different price
      • Clicking through another non-cashback affiliate (e.g. TripAdvisor)? Different price

What is probably happening is the booking site's adjusting the amount of commission they're keeping for themselves, which will vary based on how much commission they're charging the hotel in the first place (hence not all hotel prices change when you go through a cashback site). The "cashback %" or "discount" numbers are all a farce, what matters is how much you're paying out of pocket.

Don't know why folks decided to downvote you. I've had EXACTLY the same happen on prior deals, so it's best to check. Shopback redirects did indeed escalate the price vs direct nav to booking.com.

OK .. So I need a couple of nights in Singapore .. I check the price on Booking.com then click through the Shopback Cashback offer and what do you know the price on Booking.com for the same accommodation has gone up by about 10% to offset the Shopback discount. There should be a law against this sort of blatant scamming. ..😡. ..!!

  • Yup. I agree with you. Noted the same. Calling it a blatant violation of ACCC regs.

  • Booked accommodation on PC with cashrewards, then got a 10% genius discount for registering an account with booking.com, so cancelled and rebooked with that.

Then the next day checked the prices on my phone and there was a special mobile only discount, so cancelled again and booked via phone.

No cashback but price was cheaper

I used cashrewards, and didn't notice the price changing but didn't check too carefully

It's usually better to just book through the hotel's website and pay on arrival. The Booking.com website is based overseas and an international transaction fee could be charged by your credit card even if the price is shown in Australian dollars and for a hotel in Australia. There is no mention of it being a foreign transaction anywhere on their website.

I recently booked and paid upfront for a hotel in Australia through Booking.com. I paid upfront so that I could get cashback. I found out later that I was charged an international transaction fee by Booking.com. I spoke to someone at the hotel about this and they said that I had not been charged by them yet for my stay and that I would be charged through Booking.com on arrival. So Booking.com charged me through their international payment system and in doing so resulted in an international transaction fee being charged to my credit card.

  • Does anyone have any discount codes for booking.com. I recall, NRMA used to have a 10% discount using a code.

  • Lucky I got the 14 % from a few months ago

  • When does this deal expire?

  • Deal expires Midnight tonight

  • Ended - now 9%
