2022-23 RAV4 GX Petrol (Non Hybrid)

Hi Oz,

We are in the market to buy a new Rav4. I'm just wondering what sort of deals/offers they received when they purchased one? The best I've had is free tints and floor mats.

I understand timeframes are an issue and that we may not get anything off the price (wait times are not an issue for us).
We didn't go for the hybrid because of the extra upfront cost in comparison to the savings in Kms would not benefit us.

I've bought 2 new cars in the last year.
All ive managed to do is get 1k off a 36k car.
Getting a written quote from one dealer and showing it to another one and asking them to better. Most of the time it didn't work but guess I got lucky. Also came with free mats and full tank and euro plates.

    This was early this year.

A car we just purchased, we paid the website price but with mats, fuel, and slim black and white plates.

Not much movement as you said

    • Getting a written quote from one dealer and showing it to another one and asking them to better.

Some dealers refuse to write quotes because of that reason.

Deals/offers on a car you have to wait for? Yeah not happening.

Saved $96 on my Corolla that I ordered back at Easter and still waiting for. Mats, boot liner, full tank of petrol and slimline number plates.

Buy now, pay later (and get later)

If for whatever reason the price of fuel goes up even further, to say $1.70, that distance is further reduced to about 60,000km before the hybrid has recoups its cost.

Add into the fact hybrids have better resale value… For 2500…

    Get they Hybrid mate

    • Waiting,waiting,waiting,waiting…………..

Over a 14-month wait at this point. Also, for the Kms we do per week it would take years to recoup that extra $2770 for the hybrid (according to declared fuel usage on the Toyota website).

      • wait times are not an issue for us

If you don't do that many kms, why do you need a SUV?

      • It’s actually getting beyond a joke waiting for one of these.I would go elsewhere, a lot nicer vehicles around with similar gas mileage.Family member has one, currently sitting on 7.5L/100, hardly fantastic.

My mum ordered a Rav4 hybrid in June. Was told it would take a year. She got a text last week saying its on its way for delivery in November.

Seems like its luck of the draw.

Get a byd atto 3 if only using it as a daily driver

And still go on the 6 month waiting list…

But yes, short trips, low km per week, I would 100% be looking at the cheaper end of the EV range, especially if you are looking to spend $45k~ish on a Rav4 anyway…

Are you sure you need a new car? Not the right time to be buying unless it’s necessary. I’d hold out for at least another 12 months if possible.

if you don't get the hybrid you will probably regret it…
    Exclusive to Hybrid
    • Front dual zone climate control
    • Projector LED headlamps
•More power to 162kw(2wd) and 163kw(awd) compared to the 2.0L(127kw), when you need to overtake of get out of stick situation it helps.

i get 900+km per tank on mine

Petrol ones definitely shorter wait time than hybrid, though be aware you'll be up for a price rise now (for updated model) and one in January (general price increase). Probably around $3k combined

May actually pay to buy a semi-overpriced used one

    • Or just go to another brand with a lot shorter waiting time.

Yeah, that was mentioned. The cheapest in WA is 35,490 and is 2019 with 60k km and we are looking at 2023 with no kms. I'd rather pay the extra $ upfront for something that's 4 years newer and has no kilometres on it. It also comes with a few safety specs added which is that 3k extra apparently.

    • Hi Spackbace,

Do you know what the go is with baby anchor points? Does the GX come with isofix anchor points? (2023 model)

  • Try a car broker. I had a good experience with Motorscout.

  • got no extras. just getting the car was pure luck
    going to add all myself
