Is Cyberpunk 2077 Good Now? (1.6 Update)

I just finished the edgerunners show last night on netflix and I'm existentially depressed. Steam's running it for 50% off right now, and I heard they announced DLC.
I plan to play on pc (rtx 3060, 11700K).

I played it for the first time recently on 1.52. There were a few minor bugs but overall it wasn't bad and a decent story. The annoying stuff is there's so much simply missing from the game that was hyped pre release and that's what a lot of people are hung up on which I do get. The game is good but it would've been a whole other level if they'd delivered what was promised. If you can ignore that then it's well worth the $20 I spent on it IMO, not sure what price 50% off is on steam. I'll play it again if they release a NG+ or maybe even if the DLC is free (which it should be IMO).

    • Apparently the DLC is going to be like Witcher 3 expansions so its not going to be free

There was supposed to be multiple DLCs but now there'll be only one. I won't be surprised if it's not free but it should be to rebuild some goodwill. While I enjoyed the game I would've been really annoyed to pay full price for it and find out a lot of content was missing. I certainly won't be paying for any DLC.

  • Haven't played on 1.6 yet, but was playing with update before that. I got it for $25 or so, it is good for the price.
Graphics defaulted to "Ray tracing - Ultra" with DLSS, was good at 1080p 60 fps on 5600x + RTX3060

Steam's running it for 50% off right now,

why are you looking for Steam version not the DRM free GOG version at the same price ?

  • How good was the netflix show? Ok storyline but the animation was top notch.

The game has only been good in the last couple updates, more than a year after release. It was unplayable before then.

    • It was unplayable before then.

That's not true. Played and finished the game on launch (including all the different endings) months before they even offered refunds.

It crashed a few times but reloading put you back in exact same spot and there were a few glitches here and there but nothing game breaking for me. It was playable fine.

Lucky you. There were a few reports on the net where people were able to finish it soon after launch. The game was crashing after about a half hours play for me. The game would get slow before eventually crashing. I think it was a memory leak of some sort. Only on the recent updates, I could play for around 2-3 hours uninterrupted.

        • I had the same experience and I was on a PS5. PS4 players had an even worse experience from what I heard.

  • If you do plan to buy the game, it's much cheaper off other sites like Eneba ($27 for the global GOG key). Even cheaper off Kinguin, G2Play and those kinds of sites, though best to stick with more reputable ones.

Thanks a lot! I'll just buy the key instead yeah

      • There is that slight chance that you'll get a dud key, but I've had only postive experiences. The one time I did get a dud key they sent me a refund back to my card. I would say 95% of the time you'll be fine. Have fun!
