so will millions of monitors sold there's hundreds on a fb group.

      sounds "wide spread"

Ok, maybe that wasn't the best point to be made but the QC of Samsung monitors are much worse than others.

I previously owned two g9s (both rma), and a g9 neo (Samsung offered upgrade due to previous issues)

G9 had so many issues, g9 neo had the exact same issues they never resolved.,

their newest g8 has massive scanline issues as well. Check any forum or subreddit
They can't get their shit together.

Their specs looks good on paper but if you're spending like 3k on a monitor you expect it be working properly.

Why would you blindly defend a billion dollar company?

    • I've had Samsung monitors for 6 plus years with no problem

      • What model? The issue has been since they entered the high end market.

    • Every monitor in the world will have some issues.

      • He's right, the recent high end Samsung efforts, especially factoring price, have been quite mixed.

this orientation is interesting, has anyone attempted this way and found it useful?

    • It rotates to landscape for normal use.
My 32" 4K flat screen does the same. I only rotate portrait 5% of time. Can be useful for tall stuff or if stacking windows makes more sense for a task than side by side. I zero game.

      • i get vertical flat screen, because i do portraits for 1 of my screens.

i'm curious how practical it is for curve monitors in this orientation.

    • plug in a usb camera, instant laughing mirror ~~

    Where's samsung muzeeb?

Nah - I'm happy with my Dell monitor.
Got it for an amazing price too.

    • +1

Nah - I'm happy with my Dell monitor.

      $249?

      • I had to pay $249.10

        • Credit card fee.

Looks like it’s going to eat you.

Imagine paying $4000 for a VA panel.

  • Why the eff would you use this in portrait mode lol.

    • Maybe the monitor talks to you. Not much personal space ehhh

  • +3

Muzeeb, we need a price error . $404.91 please

Gosh that picture. Im going to have nightmares tonight.

Is this much better than the Samsung G9 ?

    • its 16:9

  • yes, we definitely need this for zoom classes!

  • +1

lol this monitor reminds me of pokies machine

    • say no to gambling broskii

Would expect a quicker refresh rate than 165Hz for the asking price. Can pay far less for better like Samsung Odyssey G9 49" DQHD 240Hz 1ms G-Sync Ready HDR1000 Curved QLED Monitor at $2,300

    • The Odyssey 49 "non-neo" doesn't have the mini LED backlight, and is nowhere near as good.
I think they've branded it the NEO Odyssey G95 now (rather than G9?) - and this is $29000 everywhere.

I've been looking at the much cheaper AOC Agon 49" - can be had under $1500 and is close the non-neo samsung G9.

Currently I have 3x 1080P AOC 1500R curved 24" VA panels, 144hz, which is a bit too narrow, want a little more height and a little less width….. so I might move them on.
3 screens were under $300 Ea, so ~$800 for a complete triplescreen setup with custom stand is soooo much cheaper than any of these ultrawides, even half the price of AOC's own 49"

  • I wish they would make a 55 inch 32:9

And what's the deal with no display port? I don't think gsync / VRR compatible freesync whatever works over HDMI with Nvidia (maybe HDMI 2.1)

  • +1

I'd absolutely love one of these, but come on, that price is ridiculous.

    • if only it was OLED, the 55" S95B OLED 4K Smart TV (2022) is for $2,699.10 (flat though)

  • Remember when flagship tv's were curved years ago? Have we gone full circle with the fad again?

    • +2

I am not sure if they work in living rooms, watching movies but in my experience they definitely work in an office environment.

  • -5

Not even OLED. lol no thanks. Who are they trying to fool? 65" OLED can be had for under 3k

    • +1

You don't get 165Hz on your OLED Tv, do you?

      • -5

The human eye caps out at around 60 FPS.

The human brain caps out at around 120 FPS.

Anything beyond 120 is such a minuscule improvement it's almost pointless.

        • +1

Please tell me you're joking, you cant honestly believe that crap in 2022.

          • @Axelstrife: Please tell me "you're joking" thinking the human eye can process 1000 frames a second.

            • +1

@joeno: Your comment is so stupid that I'm not even going to bother arguing with you.

          • +1

@Axelstrife: He's right. Even Nvidia showed this in promo for 360hz display. They got top 1% csgo players and after 144hz the advantage dropped from like 14% to just 3%. So anything above 144hz is pretty pointless for 99.9% of people.

      • +6

Would rather the LG C2 55" OLED 120Hz for half the price than this piece of circular crap.

        • +1

          Winner winner ;)

    • +1

Not sure why you’re getting negged.

  • Two 4k Monitors on a Vertical Monitor Stand works out way way cheaper.

  • Expensive screen for Pokies at home

    • Still cheaper than a few slaps for most

  • What makes this a monitor exactly? No display port? What differentiates this from a curved TV

    • The line between the two are quite close these days but "Adjust screen size and ratio to enjoy multiple content sources at once with just one touch of Ark Dial" this is something that would make this worth it over a 55" OLED imo.

  • Poor Muzeeb probably still having nightmares of that fateful day….

  • Showing as $3824.15 for me.

    • Education portal? Govn portal has that price.

      • Ah you're right. Thanks

  • FYI - Bonus $1000 Harvey Norman gift card for the Odyssey Ark at $4499

    • Yeah its in the main text
