Nice find, I think that's a great deal for ages these things were almost double the price and when I was looking at the Samsung 950A this often came up as alternatives for consideration. Almost tempted to get this for the spare room.

Pretty sure thats the jbl 9.1 that gets compared to q950a

        oh you are right!

Man, was way off base on this one and missed the refurb part too. TY

      • No its not. That would be the jblbar91 not jblbar51

This is a refurbished product just in case you did not realise.

did not notice that, thanks for highlighting

  • I have one of these. Would/Have recommended

  • I had this and returned it because the rear speakers (which use wifi) kept cutting out and it drove me spare. I've heard others like the Samsungs have similar issues - but it varies from person to person depending on your wifi situation. It also had an issue where it would occasionally become totally unresponsive, and only disconnecting it from the mains for at least half an hour would fix it.

A lot of people have a great experience with these so it may be worth your while rolling the dice!

      I have experienced the same.

The JBL Bar manual says the 5.8G Wireless Frequency range is 5725MHz- 5875MHz.

Your Wifi Router can be configured to use frequencies between 5170 to 5825MHz. So depending on what you set your wifi router to, you could overlap and interfere with each other.

So on your wifi router, change the Channel from Auto to something in the lower range, like Channel 44 Frequency of 5220MHz.

Once I fixed this I had no more issues.

I think its pretty good bar and I really like the concept of wireless rear when you can't run cables to the back of the room.

For those that don't know, JBL is owned by Harman, which is a subsidiary of Samsung

  • this or the Samsung Soundbar HW-Q800B/XY ?

Terrible product. They were trying to sell these $299 for brand new ones… Bought one and returned it

    • When was it $299? Also why is it bad?

    • That was the Link version not this one , also it was 2.1 but you are right that particular model had lot of issues as per user reviews.
This one is different model though.
