50" TV Recommendations - Budget Sub $1500

Main open living area room TV was smashed by the kid. The TV is progressively dying and is 7 years old so was well due to upgrade.

Was looking sub $1500 and found the LG C1 locally for $1400 as a factory second.

The image is fantastic on the C1 but factory second means every box is a mystery and the one they had in stock had a mark on the screen and next delivery is a week away.

The TV is in an open living room but has no direct sunlight on the screen so I think an OLED would be safe. Kids shows during the day and movies/adult shows at night with lights on. Traditional living room television use. If you think it's not worth going OLED I'm open to alternatives.

If the stock that comes in next week is also all damaged I would need some alternatives to replace the TV with.

They have A1 and CX at a similar price point ($50 more) and if they are in stock and no damage to the screen these are both potential options.

Any other models (doesn't need to be LG) to keep an eye out for in that sub $1500 and 47"-50" size?

  Can't go wrong with an LG OLED. You can also put the OLED backligt to max 100 which is what I do without affecting picture quality. Stick to the C series.

  I am in a similar situation; two previous TVs were plasma hand me downs, so wasn't too upset when my kid smashed the latest one, but too scared to buy a new TV… I mean I would how my son doesn't make the same mistake again, but who knows 😔

    Yeh not sure on that haha.
    Was thinking wall hanging it and pulling the cabinet out a bit more.
    There's Perspex protectors but they are another 300 odd and dunno how much it impacts the image.

    Very tempted to just get a cheaper tv just in case but the kid was pretty distraught when he told mum and mum said wait till you tell dad. Somehow he stopped YouTube Netflix etc and blippi suddenly disappeared ;)
