Interesting find, wonder if it's a misprice. I've actually spontaneously booked! $0 upfront pay later at hotel so non-issue.

7-11 Aug - $532 - Premium Room, 1 King Bed, Ocean View, Beachfront (BURE)

Worth noting for others, you need to match up flights to Fiji as it's not available daily. 7-11 Aug seems an ideal option serviced by both Virgin Australia and Qantas direct.

      • not sure but also did a search on booking similar price came up

  • quite a few available dates if you do your homework. currently selling for $300+ at Hilton website

  • Spontaneously booked! Thanks OP! It's refundable anyways so no risk!

  • +2

    Don't forget 14% cashback with Cashrewards :D

  • Not working any more :(

  • booked and confirmed, not sure whether will be cancelled

  • Thanks OP, booked for August with Cashrewards. Hilton Diamond too, though not sure how I’ll go with benefits booking through a third party website.

    • Diamond benefits only available when booked direct and have had benefits declined on this basis before, YMMV…

I'd be inclined to call Hilton call center leading up to the booking date and see if they will price match - then cancel the Agoda booking within time (this is what I'll be trying!)

    • +2

mostly no benefit when booked via third party.
But hilton does offer price match

  • +1

Not sure if price error. Prices are ~$215 in November via most resellers, so $133 is good, but not extreme/price error good - particularly given its a 10+ months in advance booking.

Just a heads up for people thinking your on a wonderful beach, it's not great you need to visit the islands for that nice white island sand

    • +2

Yup, agreed. Stayed there last December. This hotel was the biggest disappointment of the entire trip. There is no beach, it faces a muddy ocean and service is non-existent.

Also beware of the main transport guy, he would push you to take the designated taxis for a much higher price. If you refuse, he would still take a commission off every single taxi driver who drives in with other guests and you try to get those if you haven't pre-booked a taxi (I saw one of the taxi drivers hand him a $5 note and then the driver told me that's the way it works). The cost is then passed on to you. Try the best as you can to book your own taxi leaving the hotel to avoid being ripped off - just google for a local taxi number.

  • You could use this and get a further 25% off plus get Honors benefits: https://www.hilton.com/en/p/price-match-guarantee/

    • Don't think that will work.

Find a lower qualified price for the same accommodation and terms either before you book or within 24 hours after you make a reservation through an official Hilton
      booking channel.

i.e. You would have either notify Hilton of the lower price, have them confirm it - and then book with Hilton (which they wont do, because Agoda pricing has gone back up) OR Book through Hilton then refer them to the lower price on Agoda (same problem).

But I did get excited for moment.

  • $115 per night for oceanfront bure (Premium Room, 1 King Bed, Ocean View, Beachfront (BURE)) still available (booked on wotif) on some nights including breakfast. Booked 4 nights infor August next year. Search on google travel for available dates.

  • Appreciate it!
    Booked a full week

Early September I booked accommodation via Agoda for a week in Melbourne for around $1500 (2 bed/2 bath for daughter and I). All went through fine. I even had contact from the actual motel to confirm other stuff - all happy. On Tuesday I get an email out of the blue from Agoda Customer Service advising me that the property has cancelled the booking. No explanation given. I have made contact to ask why but no response - the room is still available but now it is $2500 for those same dates. Funny that. I booked another place last night 2bed/1bath for just under $1300. Have had quite a few friendly chats back and forth with the property so hope all is good. I know I didn't book Fiji or Hilton - but just a heads up in case these prices are rejected - I hope they aren't though and all who book have a great time. I'm actually tempted to give it a crack myself as I've never been to Fiji but just a bit wary.

  • done, waiting for confirmation from their end so can i go ahead with booking flights

  • Now all we need is cheap flights to Fiji

    Ozbargain meetup?

  • +11

First time commenting on OZbargain after long time watching for deals.

I was here in June 2022

There's a reason why its 103 per night

    Very outdated and unmaintained

It's not bad for very simple things but issues we had were, pool had chips and bits of broken ceramics, lots of food shortages i.e. no steak for dinners, seemed understaffed.

The game area for ping pong and pool table is super unmaintained, i.e. broken cues and missing balls

I'd also recommend get Fiji dollars in cash and pay for the full amount otherwise they'll screw you at the counter with conversion rates and their "special" eftpos processing fees

I always use international account with FIJI dollars but it still stings you because its just by "ANY card" unless it's their local bank cards which are "OK"

Anyway didn't want anyone to be discouraged could be better now however if I was to go again i'd pay an extra $100 per night for a much better location closer to the marina with the same facilities

    • thanks for the heads up!

    • +1

I stayed here in august, one of the pool tables was broken then as well.

Food was not great, very expensive, very few vegetarian options, often no vegan options for diners which were all themed nights and were between 40FJD and 60FJD.

The location is not great, there are no buses nearby so your only option is to get an expensive taxi or call your own. To get the the city a meter taxi was about 15FJD, the taxis waiting at the hotel wanted between 30FJD and 40FJD.

There’s no beach, the island is between two rivers so the water gets very muddy when the tide is going out.

Paying the extra to stay in or near Denarau would have been worth it. The staff were all lovely but I wouldn’t stay there again.

Denarau was built on a mango swamp so you'll be sticking to the pool.

    • Seems to be a different place though? This is Sonaisali Island, but looked at a few photos and the beach didn't look too nice as well.

      • My bad

Me and my family enjoyed it here when we went in July.
It is half the price than the other resorts.
I also stayed at The Shangri la but this one was better.
Bed was very comfortable and the bungalow had two king size beds.
Pool was great as well and the kids enjoyed it.
