Returns for Mitre 10

Hey guys, so I bought some stuff (paint brushes and a stick extension for the painting the ceiling) from Mitre 10 the other day. Now I don’t need it.

Brand new, never used, never opened.

I am reading the Mitre 10 returns policy and it looks like they don’t accept returns due to change of mind: https://www.mitre10.com.au/return-policy

Just wanting to know if anyone had any luck with returns with them before? If yes, what do you say to them to increase your chances of getting items returned?

Thanks heaps!

Update:
I checked online and found out there were a few other things I could buy from Mitre10 (like feather dusters, Glen20 sprays etc.) that I never thought would be sold at Mitre10. Called up the same store and asked if I could make an exchange. Store person was super nice and said no problems. Went in and got my paint brush and pole exchanged. Happy ;)

    How many days ago?
    Are they unused?

Ive had luck before but ive also been changing the product over for something else so not just a straight refund.

      Just yesterday actually.
Brand new, never used, never opened.

Any chance they would give a credit onto my Mitre10 account (if possible)? Or a Mitre 10 gift card (if these exists)?

I would tell them that my name was Scotty Cam.

Actual wording is The Store is not required to provide a refund or replacement if the customer changes their mind.

Just ask nicely, an exchange is often viewed more favourably than an outright refund. They will also know that Bunnings is very good with refunds.

Thanks. Problem is also I don’t need anything right now for the exchange.

      • Your post says brushes and pole, I thought it in included paint as well. Would this be less than $100?

Just go in and ask them.

Yeah I did get paint but I am keeping the paint. Also the paint color was post-mixed for me to color match, so more likely I can’t return the paint.

The brushes and pole comes up to $50.38. Do they look at prices to determine if they’re happy to do a return?

give the store a call, generally some companies only really put that no change of refunds etc to prevent a flood of people from abusing the return system. However they might not mind a few returns.

    • Any tips on what I could say to increase my chances?

My partner told me this is not suitable for his/her application of use.

  • I returned a ladder to Mitre 10 and they were fine with a refund. I rang the store beforehand just to make sure it was OK as I didn't want to waste time with loading the ladder in the car only for it to be refused instore.

Just be courteous and tell them why you're returning it - surplus to needs would be a reason as who doesn't buy too many painting supplies, just in case.

They are privately owned, depends on the owner.

    • Ok thanks. So I can’t go to another store right?

Wouldn't think so as they are franchised. Sometimes several are owned by the same group.
