Reason: Unobtainable deal, website displayed wrong item name. Customers who click and collected the item has reported receiving a Google Chromecast HD model, not the 4K model.

Possibly cheapest ever price or maybe I’m out of touch.

I believe may be a price error confused with the HD version but I did a successful C&C

  • Good find. If they can confuse stores with this locked HD version by creating a new product to sell then I can feel for many consumers who would also get confused. Happy for those who were able to get a 4k model for $59!!

        Showed them my order clearly stating it was the 4k version, they agreed and gave me the 4k version.

            I always go in-store but pretty sure you can also do it online. Always had way better luck at price matching with JB instore than officeworks

  • Just went to Helensvale QLD and they’re stating they can’t offer the 4K version even though the website states 4K. Because apparently they are using the model number and description.

    Just a heads up.

    Staff gave me HD version. No apologies or discount when I clicked and collected. Very disappointed. Pointed out it was 4K that I ordered. Drove all the way to get flat out told no that's right the specs and model are correct. Like I was asking for gold and insulting them or something.

    Reply was there was an error on the Website and it's the HD version. You ordered the HD version… Um no I did not… It says 4k right there….

    Granted that is true in hindsight when you look at the model number but I'm not
    normally going to check model numbers and the average consumer probably wouldn't either.

    I'm relying on the title and it's their mistake and misrepresentation

    Cancelled because of the customer service and I'll buy elsewhere because of that experience. HD or 4k whatever model hesitant to buy from them again.

    • Depends. Some smart TVs don't offer certain streaming apps. Or their Android systems are no longer being updated perhaps.

      As an example, I've just upgraded to a Yamaha Atmos receiver, only to find my Sony 4K TV doesn't support Atmos. It's a 2017 model, Sony offered Atmos ability in software updates for 2018 models upwards. So I'm going to now need something to decode Atmos, the CCwGTV will do it. Sigh.

  • So I placed a C&C order through TGC, and the line item says 4k in my email order confirmation.

    Just received notification that it's ready to pickup, but now the line item says HD.

    Fixed the title to Google Chromecast with Google TV (HD) but still 55kg lolz.
    Can you pay for delivery and especially ask them to make it 55kg. See what they send you 😂🤣
    Probably full of the tears of fellow ozbagainers who C&C and presented with HD version.

    I went to collect the order, I was advised it was a price error. I was given a choice to cancel the order or pay more for 4K model. I end up getting 4k model for $80.

  • Lol 4k version has been on sale previously for $78 + $20 gift card walk in no questions asked.

    People jumping in as if it was some sort of dell monitor error kind of deal.

    Well I ordered one for pick up at good guys Ipswich and just called them to save a drive to cancel if it was the HD version, the collection email says 4k.

    After they checked my package it was the HD version but the manager is going to honour the deal and i am going to pick up the 4k version today.

  • My order was cancelled. Well, the offered me the HD version or pay extra $40 for the 4K version. They also said it would take 10 days for a refund?!

      Makes sense - if they scammed eg. 5000 people into giving them $59 each by "mistakenly" posting a deal like this, they got a lot of money at their disposal. And 10 days using it is better than instant return, hey. And I bet it's not the only "deal" they offered and cancelled.

          Yeah, might be sounding more far-fetched than simply assuming that companies just don't care and there's no real motivation to take proper care of their stock levels, how they advertise it, how they handle "mistakes" as the law totally supports them.

          On the otherhand, cashflow is a real thing to deal with and 10 days of waiting for return sounds absurd, doesn't it?

            @pizzaguy: You genuinely think they intentionally misrepresented the product to gain temporary cash flow?? Surely that's a ridiculous theory. The overhead involved in dealing with disgruntled customers and the additional processes to refund and in some cases to actually honor the deal… do you really think this works out in their favor?.

          haha i was only buying this for my in-laws… they would only need it if they knew what it was and how it differed to HD haha

    Update: After picking up my 4k one earlier i just got an email telling me they could not supply my order, will be refunding be AND in the email was a $40 no minimum spend voucher!

    This has turned out to be a real bargain now..only $19 AND a chance of going into actual profit whilst still having the chromecast if they do refund me

  • Thanks OP. I got Google Store to price match and it’s just been shipped out. Had $35 credit with them because of phone troubles, so only costed me $24.

  • Oh bummer, I had gone to click and collect and when told that I had ordered the HD version, even though I showed them the 4K in my order, they wouldn't budge and asked me if I wanted the HD version or wanted to cancel. I choose to cancel ( in store). Does it mean I miss out on the $40 voucher that I would have received otherwise?

    • Have you checked your junk folder? They were pretty quick to send the vouchers.
      Same thing happened to me, i went in yesterday to pick it up. At first she brought out a 4k version and then scanned to only realise it was wrong so then went and got an other HD version instead (thought i was gonna get lucky for a sec haha). I did the same thing showed the email etc. and she called someone over to have a look who basically said that it was wrong and they were happt to sell me the 4k version but had to pay the difference. Ended up just asking for a refund which they did on the spot for me.

        It was for a HD version.
        Wow!
        Instead of arguing with them, sent an email with details of the proof of what I am saying.
        All well.

  • So after GGC notified me that my order was ready for pickup (whilst changing it to the HD version in the process), I emailed them back saying I ordered 4K not HD.

    The store apologised noting the listing error, but then gracefully changed my order to the 4K version and reissued my invoice.

    Picked them both up this morning.

  • I got refunded a week ago and now they sent an email with a 40$ voucher.

  • I picked up my HD CCWGTV ages ago but the $40 credit email came today. Pretty impressed with their customer service… I never even chased them up about it.
