  • That's expensive for a toothbrush.

    • Why wouldn't you bold toothbrush.

Ps. I thought the genius 8000 was a better deal for $199. Only needed one handle but should be able to sell the other one (which can be used with the existing base from an older Oral-B.

        Why wouldn't you bold toothbrush.

Because that would be so wrong…

        • Either could be emphasized

          • +3

@G-rig: These pretzels are making me thirsty

    • +1

      Ridiculously expensive.

  • +2

This or 3 years worth of checkups?

    • Probably cheaper with the extras conver and $20 electric toothbrush.

Most of the money goes for unnecessary tech, travel case etc, fraction on actual dental care.

    • +1

My last checkup was $350 and I didn't even have any work done! Some greedy bastard took over the practice and jacked up the prices.

  • looks like one of those aliexpress ones for 100 bucks

  • +5

Don't be fooled by the percentage sale! Honey and camelcamelcamel price tracker says the lowest is $219 and it's their usual sale price anyways.

It's been $219 on Amazon for ages. This is an increase.

    • very tempting…….

    • +2

Real deal is in the comments :)

    • Ebay always the winner

    • good price (but OOS & probably grey import - no warranty on accessories).

Oral-B iO7 IO Series 7 Electric Toothbrush – Black AU STOCK Express Shipped*

        • yeah says that but how would you know.
Prefer getting from Shaver shop and 180 day returns

          • @G-rig: Thats why its expensive in shaveshop.

            • @boomramada: That makes sense. Got an offer of $60 for the second handle of the genius 8000, may be good enough (only need one) but it was only $40 more for the twin pack on special for $199. 180 day returns.. If i didn't already have a lot of new white brush heads then that ebay one would be tempting.

Is this the same thing, as can try to price match and get it cheaper, shaver shop also has it for $249
Mydeal has it for $207, obviously ebay is cheaper in the comment above

  • Www.electricteeth.com.au for toothbrush reviews, because why do the leg work for something so bloody boring when someone else has done it for you?

  • +1

This is an awesome brush. So much better than the genius models.

    • In what way? The motor and oscillations etc are the same, you're just paying more for fancy accessories like smart cases and different stuff of no real benefit.

      This chat outlines the differences.

The app is useless (android 13).

      • +1

        IO toothbrush have brushless motors.

        • Ultrasonic?

          • @G-rig: Not ultrasonic. The brushless motor makes a massive difference IMOP.
I have had the budget ones, 2 different Genius ones, a Philips sonic care and the iO7.

Hands down the the best of the lot. I did get it on sale for about $200 though in a shaver Shop deal. The RRP is just crazy.

            The heads are pricey though.

            • @Dplayer33:

              The heads are pricey though.

              We don't want that.
Thought it would use the same brush heads.
Obviously the high models are the law of diminishing returns.

      • The app is useless (android 13).

How is it useless? Because mine on iOS is useless because I can't be bothered bringing my phone and starting the whole thing to record brushing. I wish brushing sessions were stored on the toothbrush intself and then synced to the app.

I wonder if there are enthusiast who actually brush with the app everytime.

        • Yeah it just doesn't work at all. Probably the new android version but it's a complete waste of time.

Fairly pointless, agree that it should record offline like a Garmin device and just sync them all when you do connect.

  • Managed to pick up the $29.95 toothbrush from the expired deal at my local store today, I am in Tasmania so they might be a few weeks behind.

  • The IOS series are the best toothbrushes on the market. I have an IO9 myself. Made in Germany.

    • +1

What makes them the best? They're surely the best gimmicks. They don't clean better. They flash red when you press too hard, which is great, but lower models have that too.

      • it looks like spacetech
do you not spacetech in your mouth?

you know you made it in life when you put spacetech in your mouth.

        Space Mouth.

      • Agree, just more gimmicks to suck you in.
That smart travel case has a proprietary cable, not a standard USB C one I would expect. The black brush heads cost a fortune about $25 each, better off with the standard ones and making sure you replace every three months.

I got The genius 8000 dual handle recently from shaver Shop on sale for $199 minus $10 email sign up, it's now girl back the usual price of $430. Also has a 180 day money back guarantee.

The main thing to note is the batteries don't last forever and this new li-ion one seem a lot better than my old NiMH in the 3000 Pro which obviously was getting a bit slow

    • +1

I had 2 8000 series die after 2 years each. Ended up buying io8 for 240. Wish I had bought at launch price specials at shaver shop for 199. Way better than 8000 series. The oscillations feel completely different

      • Apparently Philips are better anyway. Sounds like you're happy with it though. $199 would be fair.

Gotta draw the line somewhere with the spend on elect toothbrushes, and 25$ for a brush head is insane for the black ones (already have a heap of new white ones i got cheap).

Better off just making sure you brush 2x a day and floss once at least.

  • Had one of these but sent it back as comes with a 90 satisfaction guarantee for full refund. Went back to Sonicare.

  • Just bought this from Amazon on Friday for $219, this is not a deal like others have already mentioned and is a price increase with a special marked on it.

  • +1

Don’t doubt these new gen toothbrushes are better but the new toothbrush heads are way more expensive kills any deal on them

    • -1

Like in my previous comments, I'm asking what's better?

If it's screen on the toothbrush and BT connectivity, then they're just gimmicks.

I also agree with some other comments, that Philips sonic brushes are great. That's as a long time Oral B user who recently used Philips sonic for a couple of months. I'm back to this black Oral B, but I wouldn't spend that much again. Gimmicks.

      • I prefer the smaller rounder brush heads of the Oral B too, not the Philips that's more like a normal toothbrush. Maybe it's patented or something. Agree, not worth spending any more on those type of consumables.

  • -2

My toothbrushes cost $1 and are just as good.

    • +1

Nah, they're not. Sounds like you've never tried an electric one.

  • Expensive but you can get it cheaper on shavershop quite often and it's really day and night compare to the more regular models! Annoying thing though is the brush head are not all compatible and you need the expensive ones. But I can definitely feel the difference in my mouth
