  • good for people wanting to max out their galaxy s3. I'm not sure of many other devices that support 64gb though…

    • indeed, must have for s3 owner if budget allowed.

Eh, once you've dropped ~$750 on the phone what's an extra $60 between friends?

    • +1

Apparently it's working for Galaxy Note too!

    • Really? Is there a list of devices that currently support it or something?

    • +1

Pretty much all android phones will support 64GB when formatted to fat32.

    • Too bad S3 64GB is not out yet. Otherwise 128GB!

  • +5

This is an absolute steal at $58.

  • S3 maxed out. Thx for the timely post sonic2011. Great find. Just completed the order.

this is a great price! was looking at the newer class 10 revision of this card, but it costs a lot more for speed that i wouldn't notice.

  • Nice, used my $10 voucher that I had lying in my inbox on this card.

  • I was about to buy one of these until I saw it was class 6. I'll wait for Fran to do a deal on class 10s. I don't mind paying a bit more.

    • edit: ok i confused myself…first i said you shouldn't have got negged, and that i want a deal on the extreme class 10 as well.

then i thought, hang on, is there an extreme class 10? and then panicked, and bought the ultra class 6 from amazon.

then i realised that i was right the first time, and there is an ULTRA class 10 microsd…aha.

either way, i don't think you should have been negged. maybe class 10 is overkill for a phone…but it might be used in a card reader which CAN use the extra speed.

anyway, too late, i bought this! aha.

I have used class 6 cards in 720p spy cams before. They get choppy and drop frames from time to time. If you use a class 4, it happens a lot more. Class 10 is best.

This may or may not happen in smart phones. It could be down to poor quality of the spy cams. Either way, there are applications for class 10 cards, whether it's the fault of the cards or the device they're inserted in. I also make big daily transfers of media to my phone, so faster write speed makes that go by quicker.

I didn't call it a bad deal, nor did I neg the deal. All I said is that it wasn't for me. If people are that insecure that they'll downvote me simply because I don't mind paying extra for faster speed, that's their prerogative.

The Class X refers to sequential read and write. What matters in a phone is the random read and writes, and this number isn't captured in the "Class" classification, but typically Class 2-4-6 has better random read and write speeds compared to Class 10s. Not sure if it has changed.

      • +1

All I know is that based on my experience with 2,4,6,10, large files transferred a lot faster with higher class, and my video recording didn't drop frames as much with 10s. I don't know if that's random or sequential, but I'll take the higher class. The applications for which faster sequential speed is more important, I don't think I am using.

        • +1

If you are transferring large files, recording video or taking photos, then its mostly sequential.

      • +2

This thread lists some tested speeds: http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1582172

The Class 10 outperforms the Class 6, but the Class 6 is no slouch either.

        • Looks interesting, the sequential results pretty much reflect the class rating. The random results are interesting, there are a bunch of early 2011 class 10s at the bottom of the table, but newer class 10s have similar random speeds as the slower classes. So I guess the traditional notion of Class 10s having slow random is no longer true, but just have to keep an eye on the exact card you're buying, and avoid old Class 10s.

  • wow, this is unreal.

How the hell do 64 gb fit inside that thing?

  • +3

So all androids can use this (but may need fat32?)

  • Whats some android music apps that allow track sorting by track number? So many of them are alphabetical sorting only, and it's a real PITA when it ruins the order of tracks in an album.

Ive been using mortplayer, but its got one main issue: It can only have one music directory. I'd like to access the 16gb on my phone as well as my 32gb memory card.

    64gb sdxc +16gb internal >> my current 32gb sdhc

Both my Galaxy S2 and Galaxy Tab 7.7 have 64GB Sandisk Micro SDHC Ultra cards in them, works fine :)

  • +1

My Huawei E173 USB Modem has a slot for a microSD card.
    Will it support this card?

    • -1

Yes, but do note that using the USB modem as the SD card reader will be a bit slow (compared to SD card slot in a laptop + MicroSD-SD card adapter)

  • No.

  • +2

Now the price has gone back up but the shipping is now $54 wtf amazon?

  • +2

I can confirm this card works flawlessly in both the Samsung Galaxy Note and S3

  • I'm getting $51 shipping showing up… :/

  • That is a great bargain find. Well done OP and thanks…but shame I missed out this time.

  • dammit !!!!

Paid $20 more delivered a few days ago. Good deal .

Will this work in a raspi?

  • "Look at these GS3 users, boosting there storage by 64gb for $60 when I have a 64gb internal memory iPhone 4S"

    Sucks to be an iSheep

    • Two years ago I bought a 64GB gen4 ipod touch, and at that time the memory on the iPod was actually about the same to cheaper than the microsds.

    • +2

Making up quotes to support your argument. So cool bro.

  • ahhh missed out

    • Me too. :(
What's a Class 10 version of this card worth?
