Not very good reviews on Product review or Whirlpool

  • The real value of this (excluding delivery) is $105, 2 x $52.50 from Dan Murphys.
So true saving is $46, inclusive of the paypal $10 credit.
So a bit exaggerated to quote a value of $184.

    Though, still an okay deal.

Deals.com is legit, Wine Growers Direct will probably send you a bit of spam.
But I get heaps of spam requesting donations anyhow, whats another piece of mail for the recycling bin…

    • ok thanks.
it is a keen price… had flashbacks to that dodgey hard drive deal a while back.. think that ourdeal and not very good "screening" of vendors

    • They already call me every week, so it cannot get much worse

  • +1

    Edit: I'm an idiot.

  • [Edit]I'm an idiot too. The Paypal thing is a refund after 15 days, not a direct discount.

The site also offers $10 credit for a referral. I suppose we could do a play-it-on system where one person refers the next. It would make it an even better deal.

    PM me if interested?

    • I've tried the referral thing before with some mates on this site and it didn't work.

    • I've had quite a few referral credits, all came through with no problems.

  • How many years can you store Moet for ?

    • 3-5yrs comfortably. Its made for drinking straight away tho.

    • +2

Light, heat, temperature variation, vibration all reduce the life of wine. Wine with corks also need some humidity in the air to reduce the risk of the cork drying out and air getting in.

General rule would be a year or so if you don't have anywhere decent to store it, maybe 2 or 3 years in a dark cupboard where the temperature doesn't vary much, perhaps 3+ years in a fridge (dark - if the light goes out when the door closes…. but who really knows for sure? - too cold so won't really age, but humidity & vibration are issues), 5+ years in a place where it's dark and the temperature is below 16 degrees and fairly constant, and easily over 10 years in a proper cellar. Although the NV fizz is generally made for drinking now, I prefer it with a couple or years on them.

      • +1

"dark - if the light goes out when the door closes…. but who really knows for sure?" -

A way to test this - Just set your phone video camera on record and put it in the fridge, close the door, wait a min, open door, stop camera, hit play…….

this will tell u if the light is turning off :-)

    • What above peeps said + a protip for storage: keep it stored on its side not upright. This will prevent the cork from drying out and potentially crumbling when you open it.

  • NOTE: Paypal offer $10 cashback for today only as well with Ourdeal website promotion, where if you spend $65 you get $10 back as well, making this even sweeter for this deal or any other purchase on the site, click link below for details!

don't forget all the $10 credits one might have received via the stockland gift card deals and referrals :)

Limit of 1 voucher redeemable per person

but it can also be bought for unlimited 'friends'? :)

Not valid in conjunction with any other offer

as $10 credit codes are valid for the deal, does that also mean $10 paypal cashback will be received?

I do not know whether these are grey imports or not but price makes it seem like they are.

In terms of electronics it doesn't matter too much but with wines storage is extremely important. While Aussie stock of champagne come straight from France, grey imports usually make it to either Hong Kong or Singapore and then make their way here and storage is a concern. Often these grey imports are sitting out in the sun, no proper climate control when being transported etc and by the time they reach the end consumer, often ruined.

Thread on winestar regarding the issue.

    http://forum.winestar.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=22821

Seems cheap but I will not be buying… Been stung way too many times on grey import champagnes

Also since Moet Chandon can be had for around $50 on special at DM's regularly, you're saving around $10 per bottle (after shipping) which to me is not really worth the risk

      • Also cheap at Costco for those that live near one and are members.

This will go well with the RSVP Deal.

A glass of Moet should 'close the deal'.

Well in that case you'd better sign up for the free SKYN condom deal too. Scientifically proven fact:

Lips that touch liquor, touch other lips quicker

    • so that's why it's priced at 69 dollars…!

These voucher companies was a good idea initially and in theory. But after the first 6-12 months, the industry has changed. Its all about dodgy items / services with highly inflated quoted original / rrp prices and savings and as mentioned earlier, a lot of grey imports. Almost every electrical item i have purchased from these voucher companies has been some really cheapy low quality catch of the day / ebay style grey import which breaks down within a month or so. I bought this ultrasonic toothbrush which has a retail price of 280$ or something insane and on the voucher it was 80$, anyway its been 2 months and i have sent the item back 3 times for the charger / ultrasonic part of the brush breaking down.

What it is now is that a lot of the deals are just offered by dodgy salesman who put up rushed websites / companies and then have the item on there for sale at 300$ or whatever they want and then go to a voucher company and say i want to make a deal, can you put these items up or 100$. So the voucher company does as they dont really do any research or check on the businesses. Then on the deal, it states rrp is 300$ but from the voucher its 100$, so you think you are getting a bargain and you buy.

But the question is would you have bought the same item if it was not from a voucher company (that you think will be legit and check up on all deals and businesses) but rather just a random website with the item being quoted for 300$ rrp but down to 100$ after discount. Especially if you can not find any other similar brand name or item that looks just like this being sold anywhere else in australia?

I have complained to voucher companies many times that this business or that business is trying to rort people through the voucher companies as i have had to get refunds on so many vouchers due to this but the voucher companies just state, we are sorry that this business did not provide the service you want, we endeavour to make things better next time….

Frankly its all come down to dodgy con artists for the most part. Look every now and then you can get a legitimate deal but more often than not you are getting what you paid for, no more and sometimes a lot less.

With restaurants or services, try to make sure you get a deal where you can pick of the menu to the value of a certain amount. That way you know what is the actual price and what kind of savings you get. If you go to the special set menu options only for vouchers then more often than not its low quality and over inflated prices.

Like the meat delivery places, have a separate price list for vouchers than on their own website and state it as a fact… i mean how does that work?

Anyway thats my rant, sorry for it being so long, i just want people to think twice and analyse before purchasing as the con artists are relying on impulse purchases.

You would think that, but having worked with Groupon as a consultant before - they have teams of people working on due diligence for each and every item sold.

      • +8

May I humbly ask what level of due diligence does Groupon undertake to uphold?

        Is it :

        a) Enron.
        b) Lehman Brothers.
        c) WorldCom.
        d) FirePower.
        e) Greek Treasury.

  • Is paypal doing any other cash back promos?

  • Sold out. Can someone update?

  • shit, how did i miss this? i would have bought a tonne (or somehow found a way to buy a tonne haha)

  • How can it be sold out when there are only 16 purchases?

Edit: Oh bastards - its some other brand now…

  • for the record, the new one is actually a dearer champagne

    http://danmurphys.com.au/product/DM_917465/ayala-brut-majeur

    • I'm not familiar with this champagne house but dearer =/= better in world of wine

    • Had a case of that - definitely superior to overpriced Moet

  • any idea when we get these bevvys…. 10 days

    privacy breach

today winegrowers direct tried to recall an email sent visibly to all buyers - ie to: every address and not bcc:

    Dear Valued Customer

Due to the high volume of orders placed for the recent Moet offer, we are experiencing a slight delay in the delivery of your wine, estimated delay between 2-5 business days however we will endeavour to get your wines out to you as soon as possible.

We sincerely apologise for the delay and any inconvenience this may have caused you and we trust when you receive your wine you will enjoy it!

If you require any further assistance, please contact our friendly customer service team on 1300 836 340 or email through to [email protected] we thank you for supporting our Aussie Growers!

    Kind Regards,

this is why one should use alias or customised email addresses

    • I'd like to think that this is just incompetence - and that a few people will have contacted the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC)[http://www.oaic.gov.au/privacy-portal/complaints_privacy.html] to register their displeasure.

Odd that since signing up for the ourdeal /winegrowers direct Moet deal, my spam collecting webmail has gone berserk with offers from all sorts of commercial service providers. As 'tonester' suggests, this is one more example of why sharing our 'real' email address is a bad, bad thing!

      • …and, of course, the goods haven't turned up.

Great business model for both companies. Get money, get customer details, supply 4th world levels of customer service AND wonder why customers get grumpy and don't come back. Not sure that I should be leaving that '+' hanging there on this 'bargain'…

        • OMG! They've arrived!!!

        • good to hear.
now just to try them to make sure they're not dodgey grey imported heat affected swig.

        • Sorry to have to update this way (something about comment nesting levels?)…

Had the first bottle. Pretty good stuff. Looks right, smells right, tastes right. No sign that the bottle has been mistreated.

        • they're grey imported - but hopefully not heat affected :)

  • What on earth is happening with this deal?

I've called them numerous time to be told I'm the xth person in the queue, and then my call's been diverted to a message to hang up because they're "too busy".

I also received no confirmation email when I submitted the voucher a while ago, and it's been over the 10 business days for delivery (as mentioned in the terms of the deal). Anybody else having a bad experience? I've just emailed them and await a reply.

    • got mine on tuesday.

  • Same here. Still waiting and didn't get an email confirmation. I sent them an email but had no reply and that was over a week ago

  • weird… i purchased this and its NOT showing up in my vouchers…

edit: my credit card has been charged $69 PAYPAL *OURDEALPTYL 4029357733 AUS

  • Same here, no call, no email except the ourdeal payment email.
Hope to have the delivery soon.
Try to email them just right now to see if they reply!

  • seems we'll hopefully be receiving them next week - email from yesterday to probably everyone (bcc:!):

    Dear valued OurDeal Member,

Thank you for recently purchasing the champagne voucher from OurDeal.

For those of you who have received your champagne… enjoy!

If you have not yet received it please ensure you have redeemed your voucher which you can do by visiting: www.winegrowersdirect.com.au/Redemption and enter your OurDeal voucher ID and delivery details.

Your voucher is valid for redemption from 25 June 2012 until 25 August 2012.

If you redeemed your voucher prior to 25 June, your voucher was not yet valid and you will need to register your details again.

In the case that you have redeemed your voucher within the validity period but have not received your champagne we apologise for the delay on behalf of Wine Growers Direct who have assured us it should be with you next week.

    • still waiting :(

      • finally arrived today :)

they're grey imported - label has imported by moet hennessy usa

      • still waiting too.

      • +1

Still waiting, sent them and OurDeal a threatening email yesterday. Certainly would never deal with these jokers again.

        Other people agitating by email…

        "Michael Dickson [email protected]

Who is still awaiting delivery on their Moet?

I am going to NSW Consumer Affairs with the story and we have also engaged a PR agency to get us some national coverage to showcase the incompetence of the deal site and the vendor."

        • i have sent them ( ourdeal helpdesk) emails stating that i no longer have the email/details relating to me responding to their voucherID etc as the myaccounts section in ourdeal does not even have the moet offer there in my account!

i have informed that i am no longer interested in this offer and to refund me the $69 back into my paypal account as that was the form of payment.

it has been 4 days! and no reply from them!

i contacted paypal and they cannot do anything under their terms and conditions!!!

          WHAT DO I DO NOW?!?

        • Do you have a case ID number with Our Deal? I found that once I'd logged a helpdesk case, a named person responded straight away that they're investigating. I'd rather have the wine than a refund at this point, so I'll give them a few days to see what happens before going to Fair Trading and lodging a complaint and going for a refund.

    • Still waiting.

Reply I got from Our Deal…

"Thank you for your continued patience as we have investigated your delayed order from Wine Growers Direct.

OurDeal has been working closely with the Merchant to ensure the safe delivery of your Moët Champagne.

We have been assured that at this stage your delivery should have been received. We trust your first sip of Moët was well worth the wait!

If this is not the case and you have not yet received your order, please let us know so we can follow up with Wine Growers Direct to ensure a speedy resolution.

Alternatively, you can also contact Wine Growers Direct with any questions or concerns:

  • email received yesterday:

    Hi,

Winegrower’s is a family company who care deeply about customer experience and always strive to be better. Sadly in the case of the OurDeal Moet offer, we have not done a good job.

Firstly, we had an unprecedented response to the offer on Ourdeal. We were excited about the response,
however dealing with orders on that scale is a very quick way to find shortcomings in our systems and processes, and we certainly found them.

In the past 4 weeks, there have been a comedy of errors; some errors are solely down to WineGrowers Direct, some due to its partners, no excuses, just apologies.
Of course the biggest stuff-up of all was when we copied in the whole list of outstanding customers (around 50% of the original orders had shipped by then) whilst scrambling to send a message with the status of the orders,
the rookiest of rookie errors I know, it seems we have been falling over ourselves to mess up this offer!
Somewhat gun-shy, we have not done a good job keeping you up to date with your order status, for that I apologise.

Our most recent challenge has been around getting enough of the specialist shipping boxes to get the Champagne on its way; not having the right shipping container (box) has resulted in a record number of returns from the freight company due to breakage.
We have tried in vain to contact well over two hundred customers who provided incomplete shipping details. The fact that you are reading this now means that you are not one of those customers!

The remaining customers will receive their much vaunted Moet when the boxes arrive in the next day or so and the product leaves the warehouse.
We will send a separate email on Monday to all customers whose product has yet to ship, if there are any outstanding orders by then.

Please accept my apologies for our handing of the Moet offer, we can and will do better.
    Yours sincerely.
    Andrew Dal Broi.
    CEO.

    • Once again more excuses. I've tried calling them a dozen times and written several emails to no avail.

I wrote Ourdeal an email today asking for a refund. The deal said it would ship in 10 - 15 days, waiting a month and a half is absolute rubbish! Paypal wouldn't give me a refund either, so no point ever using them to buy anything. shame on you OurDeal and shame on you WineGrowers.

    • What a joke, I certainly didn't get this email, and they definitely have my shipping details. Idiots.
