Amazon Won't Process My Refund, Saying Package Hasn't Been Recieved 3 Months after I've Posted The Package

Hey guys,

I'm in need of some advice/help regarding my amazon refund.

In July of this year, I ordered a pair of goggles (from Amazon US) and some other gear for the snow season, but not long after I made the purchase, I broke my ankle and wouldn't be able to make it to the snow so I decided to return it.

Once the goggles showed up, I went through the return process using the parcelpoint drop off method, but because I wasn't able to move around I had to get a friend to drop it off for me and didn't get a return receipt (although from reading some other forum posts it seems like parcelpoint doesn't actually provide any return receipts)

A month or so goes by and my other gear has been refunded successfully, but my goggles still haven't been refunded, with the status being "Return Requested" even till today.

I went on the amazon chat service to ask if they can provide any updates for the refund, but they're saying they haven't recieved the package yet and that I would need to contact the provider (parcelpoint in this case).

So my question is, what should I do in this situation givent that I don't have a return receipt? (I've also already asked my friend but he doesn't remember the date it was returned as it wasn't returned on the same day I gave him the package)

I appreciate any advice and thanks for the help

EDIT: Thanks for the advice everyone, got in contact with the parcel point location and amazon again, and after a bit of back n forth amazon has confirmed that they have indeed recieved the package and it was an internal error. Also showed my friend some of the comments and he got a good laugh out of it haha

  • Does the parcel point shipping method show absolutely no tracking information at all?

    • From what I've seen, no I've checked my emails and dont think I've gotten any tracking information

If you booked Parcelpoint return then you get a tracking ID and e-mail confirmation too. You'll need to dig this up to prove it was returned.

At the moment sounds like it may not have been. Amazon are generally pretty good on returns.

    • I have recieved a tracking ID and email confirmation from previous parcel point returns, but for this return I haven't received anything, would you think that the parcel point return location where I've dropped it off would have any info?

Doubt it 3 months later on. If you haven't received anything at all then really sounds like it wasn't returned or scanned properly etc. Double check with your friend but either case, just going to have to cut your losses.

I am pretty sure I got an email almost straight away every time a Parcel Point return had been dropped off.

I assume you didn't get anything? Are you 100% sure the friend actually dropped it off?

    • Yeah I'm pretty sure, because the other gear that I ordered and returned through the same parcel point location got refunded, its just the goggles that has not been refunded

      • I'm a bit confused because you say your friend dropped off the goggles to Parcel Point but in some comments you say you dropped it off. So for the other gear that got refunded, did you drop those off or did your friend do those too? If your friend dropped off all of them, were they all returned at the same time or did they go multiple times?

It sounds like the goggles have gone missing/wasn't properly scanned into their system.

Personally I would've just avoided the hassle and kept the stuff for the next time I'd use them but I guess it's too late to have done something different.

  • Have you tried on different customer service on chat to see if you have different result? Just tell them you have returned it to parcel point and no receipt.

I personally will only go for the one with printed shipment label, preferably Auspost.

  • Parcelpoint doesn't provide tracking unfortunately, but usually you would get update right away within minutes.

I assume the goggles and gears were not from the same order and came in 2 different packages? In that case, should be 2 return codes. You might want to check if your friend scanned all the codes?

    Its always the friend.

    • Who didn't get a receipt, or give an honest email address for the receipt to be emailed to…

  • I went through the return process using the parcelpoint drop off method,

if you went with auspost method, they will give you a receipt. For me they have refunded just after handing it over to the post office.

I had to get a friend to drop it off for me and didn't get a return receipt

    get a new friend.

  • Try another CS rep

  • Friend nicked it /end thread

  • (I've also already asked my friend but he doesn't remember the date it was returned as it wasn't returned on the same day I gave him the package)

Surely they can figure this out. Google timeline or something.

How many parcels did you friend return for you?

If it's anything more than say 2 or 3, it is plausible that 1 might have somehow fallen through the crack, so to speak, and not actually get dropped off or not scanned & shipped by the return point.

If he returned all the parcels at the same time, shouldn't the tracking record of the other parcel(s) tell you when the goggles were supposedly dropped off?

  • I returned an item via the Auspost label method.
Staff had trouble scanning the item. Online tracking still says its awaiting scan and no receipt was provided either. Contacted amazon a week later and they refunded me no issues. They might've tighten their return policy since then or depends on how "trustworthy" your amazon account is to them.
