If you're looking for a couple of cheap torches you don't mind if the kids lose, this 2 pack of zoomable torches might fit the bill.
Includes 3xAAA but you'll probably be better off running on a 18650.
5 modes and you can almost be certain it won't have memory and you'll have to cycle through them all every time you turn on the torch.
According to the manual, max output of 800 lumens depending on battery (assume 18650) though take that with a grain of salt.
Don't expect too much, and you won't be disappointed.
Should also be valid for 5.6% cashback under Home Improvement category.

Receive a near identical free zoomie for every 18650 or 21700 you order from Sofirn's website. I've got about 4-5 of these now.

  • Grabbed a couple for the kids to use around the caravan parks when we are camping. Now I'm thinking my kids ARE stupid. Will these be powerful enough to damage their retinas?

    • Lol. Why not just get them a headlamp?

      • Yup, Manker E02 headlamp with AAA

        • AAA battery powered? Yuck. Prefer AA battery.

          • @edfoo: Buyingcrap was decrying stupidity in children vis a vis torches - my suggestion for AAA headlamp was for children shining bright lights in others face.

AA headlamp get Maker E03 or Sofirn H05.

Manker E02 with AAA lasts 5.5 hours at 30 lumens Max 220 lumens
Manker E03 with AA last 10.5 hours at 50 lumens max 360 lumens

            AAA better for kids eyes.

At home, I use E02 a lot more than E03 as it is smaller and lighter.
