Printer Recommendation for Home Office Use

Currently, looking for an color printer (WiFi enabled) with low maintenance cost. Need it for personal use and for my kid's school printing requirement. Maximum I am expecting to print around 200/300 page per month. Not have a clear idea about ink-jet and Laser printer. Need to have scan and double sided printing functionality also. Please share your recommendations.

Thank you

    Brother MFC-3745CDW
Has everything you mentioned, very quick printing, cheap per page, plus easy to connect to, mine has never not worked or needed troubleshooting to get it to connect or print when I ask it.

For this printer, big reminder not to update drivers as the latest ones may disable compatible ink.

It's worth noting that although this particular model has duplex printing, it doesn't appear to have auto duplex scanning. The cheapest Brother model with that feature is the MFC-L3770CDW, however they appear to be in short supply at the moment.

Yes that's true, I did think about that, but carefully noted OP said "scan and double sided printing functionality" instead of "double sided printing and scanning functionality" which could mean they wanted duplex scanning. Good to point out though in case anyone assumed it had duplex scanning

    • Thank you very much for your detailed reply. Could you also please share expenses towards the ink for how many pages and also how convenient is to change the toner.

      Thank you

Also recommend the Brother MFC-3745CDW. I use this for a small business office printer and scanner, great machine!

Another vote for Brother. Mine is an MFC-J6930DW (inkjet).

It's now four years old, has been moved between properties multiple times and has never missed a beat. Love the connectivity options and pretty economical on ink, too (so much so that I don't even worry about aftermarket inks).

    • Thank you for sharing your recommendation.

    Epson ecotanks.

    • Thank you for your reply.

Epson EcoTank ET 1810 (colored-ink refills not cartridges), will cost around $250 with bit research and price match with OW.

It doesn't have scan and you don't need scan these days. Many apps do the job. Especially there is no point of scanner without Automatic Feeder (which increases the price).

For double sided printing, you can print Even and thn Odd pages. Its easy.

    • Have to do a little bit research on this Ecotank model. Apps mostly don't do scan properly. Anyway I will check this model.

      Thank you

      • Have you used CamScanner ?

        • I used to scan with cam scanner, but uninstalled it due to security and privacy issues. Not sure of the status of the App now though.

          • @Apra: If scanning a major requirement for you, than make sure that you get one with Automatic Feeder, or you will have to place each and every paper for scanning yourself.

  • What did you go with? Im in same boat.

I've finally had it with tihs canon mb2100… it takes 10+ mins to warm up, would never have done 100 pages in its life and everytime i go to use it miracle - its out of ink - even if I changed it last time I used it…

I've had it for few years, but looking at reviews now, Im not the only one to suffer with this chunk of shit.

Any good deals on the Brothers??
The Brother MFC-3745CDW looks massive - is it as big as it looks???

    • I'm in a same boat too. currently looking at epson et 1810 as suggested from chipschicky above… Any suggestion?

  • Always stick to something Laser
