Best Work Laptop - Budget $1600

Hi everyone, I'm looking for a work/daily use laptop for under $1600ish.

I'm mainly looking to do work on it (i.e. programming and stuff),and hoping it's 16gb of ram. Other than that, it should have a decent battery life and shouldn't overheat. I'm not going to be doing any sort of gaming on it. Does anyone have any recommendations? I took a look at the laptops deal on OzBargain, but nothing really caught my eye (most good deals were expired).

Thanks!!

  • Intel NUC M15 is a good option. Quality built with good screen and decent battery life. Lots of options to suit your needs. Check through the old deals for more discussion.

    • oh thanks for the reply, I'll definitely check it out!

    • Yep that dell Inspiron also seems pretty solid for the price. Thanks!

The Intel NUC M15 is a pretty good all-rounder. Should tick your boxes for good battery life as it has a big 73 watt hour battery and has a 400 nit colour accurate display (You'll also get touch input if you purchase the Core i7 model).

I originally posted it here earlier in 2022 but other ozbargain users have shared increasingly better deals in the past

Note that there is a Intel 11th Gen (2021 model) and 12th gen (2022) model. The latest model is significantly more expensive — roughly 600 dollars more.

    • thanks for the reply, I'll definitely consider that if I get a good deal :)

MacBook Air M1 is what you want, perfect for programming. it doesn't overheat so much that they didn't even bother putting a fan on it, it's dead silent. And battery life is long.

    • Honestly probably trying to steer away from macbooks. Ik macbooks are solid, however I'm trying to a windows laptop

the best one is the one that work pays for.

Yeah OP is $1600 the budget you've been given by work, or are you buying it yourself?

If buying yourself, check with work re. salary sacrifice; if they allow it, you can get a more expensive machine for your $1600

      • Yh buying it myself

  • (i.e. programming and stuff)

Macbook then. Prob from Apple Refurbished store.

  • if you have access to education store from lenovo, i'll suggest https://www.lenovo.com/au/edu/en/p/laptops/yoga/yoga-2-in-1-series/yoga-7-gen-7-(14-inch-amd)/len101y0016?groupId=education
    lenovo yoga 7 gen 7 for $1629
