Bunnings Online Order + Delivery - out of Stock

I'm trying to order some "Rack it" shelving from Bunnings - due to the size and quantity, i'm looking to get it delivered.

Not all the items I need are available in my local Bunnings, and therefore when I go to add the item in my cart, it has a red cross in the "in store" and "click and collect" method, but delivery has a green tick. The delivery estimate is $40 which is fine.

So I proceed to add the items I need, but then when I go to my cart, it pops up:

"1 item(s) for delivery is not available. Please change to a nearby store to check for more stock."

This is the same item that has a green tick on it when I try and add it to my cart. Am I doing something wrong, is this a bug in the website or what?

  • I had a similar experience last week. From what I can gather, the delivery comes from your local Bunnings so if no stock there, they won't deliver. Also some things they won't deliver - fertiliser and matches in my case… Which I suppose in hindsight makes sense..

It was trial and error removing things until the delivery would go ahead. Not a very good UI.

Hire the ute from your local Bunnings and grab what racking you can. If you need more, easy enough to head to another Bunnings while you have the ute to pick up.

Bulky things come from the local joint. Smaller things may come from a distribution centre. Might explain why the delivery option is still active is the system.

Provide them some feedback - they may improve it for next time.

My experience with my Rackit rack was the same. When placing online order for delivery, i was asked to choose the store and their website only showed the parts that are available at the selected store. I ended up ordering from the store that had the most of bulky items with delivery. And picked up smaller items from another bunnings store.

    • This looks like the way to go - Luckily most of the large items are in one place, but i'll need to drive to two other stores to get the smaller bits. Seems Rack-It items are always out of stock these days - I've been waiting for a few months now for it to arrive at my local.

  • Does Bunnings deliver in the city? I've never found anything they will deliver to me from my 3 closest stores - closest one 50km.

  • They are simply too large to handle rain-checks.
Do it on Ozito super bargains like the $20 battery charger combo. If it said low stock and you paid your money the chances they can't find stock as batteries grow legs.
Then they usually upgrade you for free. A super bargain turning into something even better!

So found a store 55km away that stocks all the items I need - Selected this as my store, and it looks like it let me complete the entire order with the same delivery fee of $40.

Hopefully that works out and it all comes through!

  • Final Update - all items were delivered across two separate deliveries from two different stores (looks like Bunnings optimised the locations to closer Bunnings) - no extra charge for me.

    Happy days :)
