Good Budget Rugged Phone for Vodafone Network

Edit 2: Pulled the plug on a Redmi Note 11 from the amazon.de deal linked in the first comment. Thread mostly moot now.

Looking for suggestions for a rugged Android phone. Performance is not overly important but needs to work well with Vodafone (850/1800/2100MHz).

For my elderly father. Budget $200-$300.

Will be used for accepting calls - no performance needs.

A large screen and long battery life would be good but not essential.

Edit:

I'm happy to buy internationally (banggood or what-ever).

Have seen the Doogee S58 which looks good - but not sure about network support.

Preference is for android as he's already used to using his current android.

Yep will put a cover on it but still want something that's not too fragile to start with.

    • Yeah will cover it with a case, just wanting something less fragile (we're rural, lots of manual tasks, lots of chance for damage).

But certainly not ignoring the non rugged choices - may still be the better option.

Looking at the Xiaomi poco m4 pro (5G or non) and the Redmi Note 11…

That .de deal on the Note 11 was too good to pass, grabbed that (well 2 actually - one for my mother to match!)

      Thanks for the heads up.

Does it have to be Android? Would probably be better with something like this if it's just for calls - https://www.mobileciti.com.au/aspera-r40-4g-rugged-phone-key…

Otherwise buy a budget phone and the most hardcore case you can find. Rugged phones are generally targeted at a much higher price point than you're looking.

    • Android is the preference, he's been using a OnePlus One (YES A ONE!!!!) for a number of years, not keen on changing from Android.

Yeah may go with a standard (non rugged) phone with a case - would case it regardless, but stronger is better.

I would avoid buying the random rugged phones (unbranded) on Aliexpress, they're basically just regular phones with a rugged case permanently attached to it. They're also kind of expensive, to boot, making them rather poor value.

    • Ah, thanks for the heads up - ignore the randoms..

I swaying towards a standard phone with a good case, perhaps the smarter option.

Edit: watched the vid - yep, ignore the rugged it seems!!

    • Thanks again for your post - totally changed my idea of what phone to get.

Grabbed the Redmi Note 11 from the amazon.de deal linked above.
