Black Friday Ryzen 7 5800X3D deals - what do you expect to see price wise?

Like a lot of people I was waiting for the 7xxx's before deciding to stick with the AM4 socket for now, especially since I have 64gb of 3600/C16 stuck in DDR4 on it.

What's your expectation for the 5800x3Ds before we get to christmas? There were $609 deals posted here earlier this month and I got a notification that they're back at $649 on amazon now. Purely in the interests of trying not to spend an extra $40+ given I can wait a week or two, what do you guys think we'll see for standalone CPU deals in the next few weeks?

<$500 but only with a motherboard deal you'd have to resell or reuse

  • what is your current CPU ? I would wait some time and just sell this AM4 CPU+RAM+MB and upgrade to a new ecosystem when current CPU is not enough.

Ryzen 5 3600x on an Asus X570P Prime w/ EVGA CLC 360mm All-In-One & Crucial Ballistix 64GB 3600MHz CL16, about 11 months old. CPU was handmedown from another machine that went to a 5900x for production. 3060 12gb in this box at the moment but just waiting to see how the 4070/80 situation develops vs 2nd hand 3080s and TIs.

The two games I mainly play are DCS World and Total Warhammer, both of which the x3d seems to like quite a lot, maybe some of the most out of anything?

So it's very attractive keeping the rest of the platform given how recent it was put together and how expensive it would be to push to DDR5.

  • I would love a 7700X CPU. Except for 2 things. I have no money & I would have to buy a new mobo
So I am stuck with my MSI MEG 570X ACE rocking the old 3800X. At least I beat the OP by 200 :p sorry
The 5800X3D will do me for a long time when I can afford to get it. 640/4 = 160. That is a lot out of each pension
But I have to do it before the end of the year as I then have to buy all my drugs then, and it is a lot. It sucks being a pensioner

I got a raise in one of my cards, so I bought the 5800X3D - woo hoo
I got it fromScorptec for $559. It will be at that price until the end of the month
The CPU won't come in until the 9th, so it is stuff all time till then
I wonder if I should re-install my OS, I was thinking about it anyway,
the wi/fi has never worked since I installed the OS months ago.
Something about the AUTO WLANConfig not starting,
      IO have tried several things, but to no avail;
I rechon it may be in group policy the problem.
Stuff it, I will install a new OS, just incase

      • It will be $559 @ Scorptec until the 20th, not the end of the month people (Soylent Green is people!)

It will probably drop more after AMD launches the 7800X3D presumably in January at CES.

Current price seems well positioned vs comparable Intel 12th gen & 13th gen options from a gamer's perspective.

AMD are rolling back their 7xxx production due to low sales, so 7800X3D may never happen
BTW, the best selling 7xxx chip is the 7900

  • I'm out! Computer Alliance ebay thing for the chip and uncharted for 600 bucks, which I could use a pile of ebay e-gift cards on to fund most of? That's good enough for me. Should have thought to include a pack-in game option in the poll. I also found this video of obscure and old games benchmarked on it which might be of interest to other people who aren't primarily interested in playing your typical benchmark suite games:

  • After the Raptor Lake benchmark embargo lift today and the i5-13600K being available for less than $530, that should put quite a bit more pressure on lowering the 5800X3D price.

    Just dropped to 559.

If you were to start a brand new build to have the best gaming chip.

Would you still go this or something else?
