Missed the last time it was at an all time low? Even though 3xcamels does list it as at all time low now, this site has a previous post (see link above) that begs to differ.

It's now a coupla bucks more than the lowest price but good if you're looking for a boom arm. Heard good things about the low profile version.

  • Damn, just spent $160 to get one from Gamesmen about a week ago. Great quality mic arm though.

Great price. I have it set up with the Rode Wireless Go.

  • indeed best arm there. and the other good one is the bluecompass clone 70$ish.

use it for mic and bedside tablet mount, works like a wonder.

  • Is this good compared to the rode psa1?

    • i have owned 3 psa1, if you're getting a lighter mic the psa 1 would just flinger up (have the hyperx quadcast)
using the psa1 on the blue yeti and other mics are working well.

I would get wave as it wouldnt be as annoying for daily use

      • Interesting. In that case, I would say the PSA1+ would be better.
I use my PSA1+ with a Hyperx Quadcast as well and has no issues at all. Might be the slight tweaks that give it an edge over the standard PSA1.
Just stays put where I leave it.

        • Ooo, damn yea… Unfortunately bought the 3 before the plus came out. Don't think ill be replacing anytime soon. But good to have options to recommend for others

I own two Rode PSA1+ and this Elgato low profile arm (ordered it from preorder so its batch 1).

In my own opinion, go for the Rode. I use both types of arms daily and the low profile arm isnt as solid as people think. Granted im running an SM7B on it which is a heavy mic, you touch it even slightly other than backwards or forwards and the tightening screws give out. I then tried this with an SM57 and it was not as bad, but still iffy.

If your thinking of running this under your screens, they need to be sitting high. The arm needs to be slightly lower then what it is to make it really low profile.

In all honesty i may even down the track sell the Elgato and get another PSA1+.

      • Thanks. I had a feeling the psa1+ would be better.

  • I got this during the last round it was about this price and it's been a few months. I'd say it's been worth the price but you don't need something like this if you are on a tighter budget.

I can't think of anything that's bad about it apart from a slight sag. I don't know if it will become a problem over the years but it is so great to swivel the mic in and out of position. It does sweep across the desk so you have to have that area clear.

  • the horizonal arm distance has to be right on your setup to make this arm super useful and looks nice, otherwise, it is definitely not as versatile as the traditional style.

  • For the regular arm, any chance I could mount it on a shelf above me and have it descend holding the mic that way?

Doesn't seem like you can based on the starter guide.

The low profile arm does give you the ability to extend downwards, albeit not by much. I just did a rough measurement on mine and it extends about 20cm to the ball head mount from the top of my desk. I suppose it depends on the mic you're choosing to mount it with, and how high your shelf is.

      • Thank you vm for trying it out.

In my mind, I had the idea of mounting it on the shelf upside-down (cue Maverick/Inverted meme) and being able to pull it down as required (ie: work meetings) and push it away when I'm done - but it's not clear if the weight-bearing elements of the arm can work inverted.

          No worries!

That's a good idea though, and does clear up some desk space.
Unless I am misunderstanding, the arm sits on the desk clamp by means of gravity. I'm not sure if mounting it inverted would work.
