WINDOWS KEY+ V = My Best Find by Accident

So today, I came across this by accident. Android has this feature and I never even thought about windows.

WINDOWS Key + V = Clipboard of copied items in windows.

I was always going back and forth copying and pasting, now I have a list of my previous copied texts.

This may help you today.

its already there, when you long press to paste, it should say clipboard next to it.

I am using Microsoft Keyboard (swiftkey)

      • Thank you will try it :)

And you can pin pastes to stay there too.

On the Mac I use Clipy (but if using this make sure you exclude password managers for security)

Clipboard History Gnome extension for the Linux folks.

Also, Microsoft has a suite of tools called PowerToys which is basically a compilation of some useful extensions and apps that offer some very good QoL improvements. You can disable the ones that you don't want to use if you don't want to trigger them by mistake.

One of them is a OCR copy — this is a minimal optical character recognition (OCR) utility for Windows 10/11 which makes all visible text available to be copied. Including text from images and videos.

    Other little-known ones:

    Key Action
    [Win]+_________
    +[.] or [;] Insert emoticon
+[Tab] Task view (Alt+Tab with history)
    +[Shift]+[S] Snipping Tool
+[Alt]+[D] Opens calendar (system tray) - same as left-clicking the clock
+[P] Project menu (Screen settings - duplicate, extend, etc)
+[K] Connect menu (useful for casting display to a wireless TV/projector)
+[X] Quick Link menu - same as right-clicking the start button

      CTRL+W

  • That reminds me I need to disable this on my new install

    • security reasons? or don't want the questionable website URL remembered ;)

      • Security. I copy paste passwords all the time. Also Microsoft do not have a good track record with pasteboard security.

https://www.clipboardfusion.com/ is pretty good as well. Has favourites and all. Very handy.

Be careful when copying and pasting password from a password manager, as they may appear here too with this on.

Clicking on the top bar of a window and wiggling the mouse a little minimises everything except the window you clicked on. Doing it again maximises everything back to the way it was.

  • I would be interested if there is something for ios - when I want to pay someone for something on PayPal, I copy their email and go to PayPal, but then I need to put in my auth code to login, so go to the auth app and copy the code to paste in, which means I have to go back and copy the email again 🙄
