Modern Warfare 2 (2022) Pre Order or Wait for a Possible Black Friday Discount?

Hey everyone, I am looking forward to buying the new MW2 on PC on either Steam or Blizzard and was wondering what i should do out of these options.

Option 1: Purchase the Pre-order for $109 and receive some skin goodies

Option 2: Wait it out for a black Friday sale, given the nature that the game just released and is fresh off the shelf so it is unsure whether it will be on sale.

I don't mind waiting but i also don't want to waste time by not having the game while i wait for a sale that might not even happen.

What are your thoughts?

  • None of us have a crystal ball into Activision's marketing plans for the game so no idea.

If you want to play it at launch, get it. I don't think there'll be a steep discount as soon as Black Friday being just a month later. It's quite a hotly anticipated title apparently and COD games don't go on sale often till a new one is around the corner. Even less so on PC.

Just pay the $109 to support the developers on such a great effort and enjoy it sooner, the $20-$30 savings probably won't offset much, may as well get it. Money is made to be spent to enjoy yourself.

    • Is it good though? Don’t support the game if it’s going to be half baked at release.

i've been done with CoD since black ops 2, but my friends usually still buy the new ones, none of them are planning to buy MW22. can't remember the exact reasons, but i vaguely remember them talking about how it's just not good enough, after they played the beta.

thats cause the last several release have been half baked on release.

      • FWIW the beta felt pretty good, and apparently the single player is also solid according to reviews. Definitely worth checking out.

    • I did this BF 2042, worked out really well!
I've been an active player since release with having now over 6000 hours, bloody awesome game.
Shame it's $5 now, but I got my moneys worth.

  • Is this just a HD version?
Or did they change anything substantial about it?

I get it makes sense for PS5 owners, but XSX owners might be able to still play the original version, while PC Gamers are just laughing with their thousands upon thousands of catalogue to choose from.

It’s a sequel to the 2019 Modern Warfare remake not to be confused with the 2016 Modern Warfare Remastered which is a better looking version of the original 2007 Modern Warfare

  • I recently bought COD 4 - MW :(

How do you find getting games? I still think its a great game.

  • FWIW the Pre-order "freebys" are crap these days..
Few skins or "sprays" etc useless shit you cant even see while playing the battle etc.. not even 1 free weapon anymore.

for those on Xbx or PS

  • IIRC they've been tightening down on PC sales and making everyone go through Battle net or Steam, presumably to control the prices. So unfortunately I don't think there will be any significant sales any time soon eg Back Friday.
