So what's the main appeal of games like this, where you still need to use the original publisher's client (Origin here), but it now launches through Steam?

The community aspect, trophies etc.? Being able to have games 'all in one place' even if it means launching another client?

    • A bit more straightforward for the Steamdeck though all my DLC is in Origin.

    • mostly the fact it's in a single launcher - don't need to add external games into steam.

Steam also have some amazing expansion for games, like non-native controller profiles etc, that can improve games. This even works with external games, but doing it through the steam launcher just keeps things simpler.

  • PlayStation & Xbox as well.

Pssst, First hit is free, its the DLC that gets ya.

pssh, with all the discounts on the dlc it's pretty cheap, only $903 atm

    • I get the impression DLCs are never more than 50% off. More and more publishers are becoming stingy with DLC sales (Paradox, with Crusader Kings 2, was one of the first).

Free legs, unlike $10B Meta Failaverse

Gotta make up for the hundreds of billions of dollars worth of lost share holder value somehow!

  • Worth my time, or do you actually need dlc's for this to be any fun?

    • -1

No. You need the DLCs, and their business model is the usual EA garbage of dlc, dlc, dlc, dlc…

Can you make them swim in a pool until RIP still?

    • +1

      You need to play Rimworld.

  • +7

    Oops the pool ladder disappeared

Does this mean the 300000 expansion packs are going to go up in price

  • +1

do you still need origin installed in the background?

  • +2

Lmfao… Base game is free that's 1% of the game 99% are the expansion packs.
EA being greedy as ever. Gotta keep the "Worst gaming company" in history going strong.

Welcome to capitalism buddy, that's how economy works. You don't work for free do you? So that makes you greedy?

    • +2

Not sure why this was negged, though I'd say 1% is a stretch - the base game of Sims 4 has less features than the base game of Sims 3. Being the series overhaul, you'd think some of the essential things from Sims 3 would have carried over or gotten better.. but nope..

    • Just add all DLC for $904. :D

  • Myshuno!
