eScooter or eBike for Hilly(ish) Area and 60k Round Trips - 75kg Rider

Hi all, ideally I'd keep this to $1200 and second hand is OK with me.

I live around 1.5ks from the beach (downhill), 1.5ks to a bunch of friends (uphill) and 30ks from the metro train station (pretty flat and intend to commute there very rarely but would like the option). On google maps, a typical route climbs 50m in 2km.

not planning on carrying much stuff with me and I weigh a bit under 75kgs.

a foldable scooter would be nice as it's easier to take on PT but not a deal breaker.

very comforable riding both types, so which type should I be looking at to meet all my needs?

thanks for any feedback.

EDIT - the 60K roundtrip would be RARE, maybe once a month, every couple of months. but due to the legality situation sounds like an ebike is the go. I already have 4 bikes, lol. well, may as well get another!

Spending more than 7k's let alone 60k's a day on an escooter would be the death of me.
The jarring and standing up would get old fairly fast

Get a second hand ebike or stump up for a brand new one, you'll be a lot happier..

    • Don’t some of those scooters have a seat option? (Can’t imagine it comfortable for long rides but better then standing??)

Victoria? Neither. I read the police are cracking down on those, fines up to $900. I stopped riding my scooter because of that.

    • oooh, that sounds bad. thanks for letting me know.

30km? Not a snowballs chance I’d be trying that on a scooter. Scooter I’d want to be under 5km.

  • Get a small capacity motorcycle.

    • yeah, I could! I would rather not pay rego etc tho, and probably still well above $1K I would guess. x-motard rider here :)

  • ebike; to answer your question.

    25km/h = 72 minutes of riding to a train station… one way.

Gives me back pain just thinking about it

Even 30km on an ebike is a big commitment. You’d want to be used to riding a bike for a good distance to want to do that 2x per day.

      • sorry I wasn't clear enough in my original post, it's only for RARE occaisons I'd be doing the 30K one way trip.

    • yeah, I hadn't thought that through, that's never going to happen! thanks for the analysis!
