  • Thanks OP! Grabbed one for the van

  • I have one of these. It's a decent awning for the price, but that RRP is bullshit.

It's showing expired, but definitely still available. And $49 with WELCOME10

I had one of these. Good for $59 but at only 2m X 2m don't expect the shade area to be large.

  • Anaconda is outrageous with RRP, Since when do chairs and gas burners cost $300, My guess is they are allowed to do it because they develop there own brands ?

I have this. It has not failed me except it's bit small therefore I bought one of these extension for another 2.5 x 2 m coverage from another brand. It's now 4.5 x 2 after having the extension.

btw, i have prorack roof rack. I had to buy the mounting kit in order to install this one. Bit more extra $$ for me to get it set up the way i want.

    • I also had prorack roof rack. How did you connect two together? I will follow your setup to make 4.5x2. Thanks

      • +1

There's extension rail on this awning which is pretty standard. If you buy the extension to fit in these rail, you just need to slide them into the rail on this awning.
You firstly need to set this awning up with 2 x 2 standing. then attach the extension for another 2 x 2.
You don't attach the extension to the prorack directly
Worth to mention that i bought 2 poles separately. The extension is meant for a side wall not cover.

        • Thanks. I got it.

    • +1

What is the extension you purchased?

      • +1

        Correction, it's 4 x 2 after the extension attached.
I bought "23Zero Raven Front Awning Extension 2M" from Snowy.

Which prorack roof rack do you have? I have the T17 heavy duty bars

      • +1

        S17.
Not familiar with T17 but don't think the included fitting materials fit on these bars either.

        • +1

Yeah you are correct. I think the kit I need is $32 at Anaconda

          • +1

@iShibby: Unfortunately yeah, so the total cost for this awning set up would be $49 + $32 = $81, however price is still not bad.

            • @JC1986: I think I def need bigger as other comments have said. Plus I'd be super paranoid about someone clattering the side of my car with their chair lol

              • +1

@iShibby: yep. would feel bigger if it was 2.5 x 2 as minimum. LOL

  • is it still a good deal if I need to get an awning bracket for an extra $80?

  • Nice….got one for $49
    Thanks

  • post 20mins ago and expaired ??

$50 for an awning is pretty decent, but that awning is worth maybe $150 on a good day. Anaconda definitely playing with numbers to make this look like a better proposition than it really is, should honestly be illegal to inflate prices like that.

    • i think they can get away with it because they own the brand

  • made it , now show 79

  • I dont have a roof rack, how can I use this?

    • unless you want drill holes…

  • How is this "freestanding" when it requires two poles and a 4wd to hold it up 😅

  • 2x2m is too small, and the quality is basic. If you're at the point of wanting a car awning for camping outdoors, get something that will last. Something good quality. The Gordigear stuff is good, with versatile extension options including an awesome tent room.

    • Good mention. To save others a bit of time, gordigear car awning prices:
      CA25 Gumtree 2.5m AU$ 430
      CA20 Gumtree 2.0m AU$ 410 (not available)
      CA14 Gumtree 1.4m AU$ 375 (not available)

      • I got the CA20 about 7 years ago for around $310. Not to use as awning but for the tent room TW20. Great product, tent room is excellent. You get what you pay for.

Installation and details are important for this type of product. This PDF manual may be of interest to those doing research.

Don't just buy things because they're cheap. I made that mistake with the Dune 4WD Deluxe RV Shade, from Anaconda a few years back, which was a pathetic piece of junk. I note they now stock the "version 2" of the RV shade. I guess they went back to drawing board and gave it another shot.

  • Can this one survive the sandstorms of Arrakis?

    • Nope but you can afford buy another one

  • not good for my 4wd but what do you reckon about this for just a SUV like a VW tiguan (provided they have a roof rack)

  • +1

if anyone looking for abit bigger the 2.5m one is also on sale

I fitted one of these to the 4WD back in Feb when they were on sale and still haven’t christened it. Probably cost me $100 in extra diesel to lug it around so if I get to 1yr it’s coming off.

Legitimate use cases are just too rare, and even when I could have made use of it there’s been options for easier, better and more convenient shelter. Would have been better spending $50 on a good hat. Ymmv, but probably not.

It seems decent quality for the price though. Basically identical to Kings, XTM and other cheap awnings

  • Help.. just bought this awning 2x2.. comes with 4 long screws and 4 short screws.. trying to fit the awning to the rhino rack vortex crossbar but the screws and washer is very loose and not supporting the L bracket to the rhino rack vortex crossbar.. what adaptor do i need to purchase to make this work??

    Regards

    • Probably just need to buy some T-bolts that fit the slot in roof racks. Rhino sell them.

      • The T bolts did not fit the brackets but it did fot the roof crossbar.. going to drill a bigger hole on the brackets.. cheers
