Amart Furniture Is Blaming Damages on Customer Error and Not Manufacturer Fault. What Do I Do?

I have purchased some furniture from Amart, a lounge specifically. The sides of the furniture have been faulty and a noticeable bump inwards of the lounge.

I have raised a warranty claim as the lounge is under six months from purchase, an outsourced lounge repair company has come inspect and the person that came has told me that the internals are made from cheap cardboard and are prone to failure. They stated that they will send a report out for someone to come fix it.

I gave Amart a call trying to follow up and they are saying that the report states it is customer error and not manufacturer, it's impossible for it to be customer error as the areas of damage aren't even exposed in a way that could be damaged (the side closest to a wall). It's not like I go around kicking furniture….

What can i do in this case to fight it?

Push it up against the wall and move on. Out of mind, out of sight.

    It's Amart furniture not Moran.

You could try your luck with a credit card chargeback

Start hounding their Facebook posts and post up a review on product review and the Google amart store reviews, I did for a month straight and they finally caved for a full store credit after refusing to fix a couch of mine, they're complete dogs I'll never buy amart trash ever again

      a full store credit

I'll never buy amart trash ever again

      Seems unfortunate

      • It was that or nothing, sold the credit to my parents cheap

        • LOL and they will include that in their will in recognition of your love 😀

    • I got the store credit converted to a Gift card and sold the GC.

Ask to see the report and the name of the person who wrote it up. Then ask to talk to that person to confirm they are the same ones who came out to look at it. Say you will take them to the small claims tribunal to get a ruling on this. These companies, often, try these things on and then fold like a house of cards when you push them.

    • I tried this, when i contacted the company that came out they said we cant supply you with the report because its been sent to Amart and now they legally own it.

When i contacted Amart they said that we are unable to provide you with the report because its something that they outsource that the company has paid for and they hold rights to it.

      What a joke…

      • Then you go down the small claims tribunal pathway. That is just ludicrous behaviour.

Dont give up, they are just trying their luck. The worse part is that they give store credit and you end up buying from them again.
    I went through this too

  • i bought a bed from Amart 5 years ago, the middle support broke and i asked for warranty/replacement piece they offered me $160 cash back lol (it was $600 new)

i was happy with that result

I went through this, spent over $3500 on a couch. After 6 months the cushions started to sink in and it needed to be replaced and new foam added or whatever it is they put in it. At first they said customer fault, after going online, leaving reviews everywhere I could and raising a complaint to the ACCC the manager finally called me and offer to fix it but told me they would only do it this one time and never again.. dodgy AF but I took the offer as I just wanted my couch fixed. Will never buy from there again, couch was crap and has not lasted 5 years, considering it had a 10 year warranty. Never never again will I buy from Amart for anything. Next time always pay a little more $$ and get a better quality, at Amart everything is just built crap I honestly thought I would have done better at IKEA and paid less!
