I was looking at ozbargain site and it has grown from mere few cookies to more than 150 cookies on users. Mostly ads, but I wonder how much we are being tracked?
Also, there is no provision to take consent from users to use only specific or not to be tracked options.

Maybe there's some browser add-ons that are causing it? Try a different browser / run incognito.

Cookies — the one that we deliberately set are PHPSESSID and userhash, for identifying the current session & current user. Those are used exclusively on OzBargain and never shared with anyone else. HOWEVER the other scripts that we use will either use sessions on their own domain or on ozbargain.com.au. Currently we are loading these external scripts:
(2) will also load scripts from various ad networks, and I believe many of them will be tracking users. If you turn off ads in your user settings, we'll still load Google Analytics but won't load the ads script. If you don't even want Analytics to be loaded, use an adblocker.

Mo cookies, mo money. Are you saying if you owned OZB that you would say no to the extra money that all those cookies would bring you? You'd say no to a larger house, ability to buy investment properties, nice cars, etc.? Most of us would take the money if we were in Scotty's position.
Is there? I only see 4 cookies. 2 for userhash (I'm assuming to save my login details). One I think part of cloud flare offline browsing and one for session ID (PHP?)
Though I admit, I'm not too well versed in cookies.
Edit - Turns out I think I don't have as many as my addons have blocked them. Makes more sense now why the numbers are so widely varying.
