Anything to Consider with The Samsung S22plus Telstra/JB Hi-Fi Deal?

Hi,

I'm thinking about upgrading my phone, and partners phone to a Samsung S22 Plus through the Telstra/JBHIFI offer, where you have $1000 off the phone, with the difference being $300~, and locked in for 24 months at $69 for each plan.

Is this plan worthwhile, or should I consider something else?

Thanks!

  • They currenlty have a bonus $350 coupon for trade-in, which if you have a phone you want to trade in may mean you don't need to be locked into the $69/month plan for the phone.

I'm currently paying $15/month for mobile through Belong, and you can just purchase data separately through eBay (300GB is $22 and it doesn't expire).

All depends on whether you're happy enough paying $69/month for the phone plan - it adds up quickly.

    • How do you purchase data from ebay and it doesn't expire? Can you please the ebay data purchase link?

        Here you go: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/265818108297?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mk…

All Belong data rolls over month to month, and the purchasing data is effectively someone taking advantage of the "gift data to a friend" function of Belong to sell the data to you, when you pay via eBay. You can see reference to the data banking and gifting here: https://www.belong.com.au/go/mobile

I've been doing this for years without issue, unlimited calls, texts and as much data as I need for like $15/month + $20 every year or so for the 300GB of data. The plan was actually just $10/month really recently.

    Anything to consider…

Do you actually need a new phone?

  • Yeah, I've got an old Nokia Android phone, and my partner has an iPhone 6S. Both of the phones have no trade in value from what I can see through JB Hi Fi.

Would this still be a good deal if I had to go all out, basically $140 per month for two plans, and whatever I needed to pay for the additional cost after the $1000 per phone.

I would prefer 12 month contracts though, and currently I'm with ALDI at $70 for both plans.
