New computer around $1500 to $2000

Hi guys.

I've been looking to buy a new pc for a while as my i5 2500k is getting a bit long on the tooth. I want it to be a reasonable gaming machine (although I don't game much my 7 year old is starting to get into it).

I've been looking at the deals posted on this site for some time but often feel they make compromises (old motherboards, ugly cases etc).
And buying parts separately isn't going well as I've only secured an nve ssd and it's been sitting around for a month in the box!

Who out there is worth chatting to and see what deals they can offer? I'm happy to build my self if it saves money. But everyone seems to advertise video cards at covid prices in their builds. I want someone to build a machine around a $500 to $600 card that would suit a 60hz 4k monitor. Any good options out there and should I wait another month for black Friday deals and a better range of next generation motherboards?

Cheers

I'd look at some of the good deals here and then contact those suppliers and let them know what you want.
Techfast is one example that posts here fairly regularly.

  • I think my plan is to list the parts that I am interested in and send to multiple vendors and run a RFQ process.
Pc case gear, scorptec, msy are known to me and I always see bpc and techfast advertising on here. Any other vendors that are known to offer good service and competitive pricing?

This is an example of what you can get: https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/9HQPGL
For the incompatibility, the motherboard has bios flashback so you're fine.
If you'd prefer the upgrade option to 13th gen (that board is pretty solid until after an i7-12700): https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/yHQPGL
    Added wifi/bluetooth for your convenience.
You did not list any aesthetic choices except not an ugly case and old motherboard, so I assumed you wanted flashing lights in your box.
Power supply fan can be a bit noisy, you can pay extra for a different option. If you want to save more money, you can use the stock cooler.

    • Keep in mind, prices will 100% change so this list will be not relevant in the days to come
