Seeking (Reasonably Priced) White Wine Recommendations

Not a big wine drinker, but looking to buy a few bottles of white for a party. Would appreciate any (reasonably priced) suggestions that are likely to be crowd pleasers!

Thanks!

Sweet or dry? Light or full body? Or would you like a mix?

    • To be honest i don't know. I'm guessing a mix.

What price range do you consider as reasonably price tho? That may assist in guiding ppl to provide some suggestions.

    • Enough to get something that's decent enough to drink. If i can get away with $15, $20 wines instead of $40, $50 that would be my preference!

Devils lair if you want a good chardonnay ($19.99)
Taylors are generally quite reliable otherwise.

    • Thanks!

    For my inexperienced palate;

    White: Pinot Grigio / Gris
Red: Cabernet Sauvignon / Shiraz / Blend

These are generally an easy palatable drink. Go to BWS, Dan Murphy's, LiquorLand and look for the special tickets (eg:$20/bottle buy 1 get 1 free)

If you don't mind waiting for a couple of weeks with delivery, hit up Skye Cellars rep and they'll be able to point you in the right direction. I'm yet to have a bad bottle with any purchased from them.

    • Thanks for the tips!

Most white wine is quite nice if chilled sufficiently

If you like Moscato (always refreshing at a summer party), I enjoy:

Angove Long Row Moscato - light, not overly sweet, bright. Can get for as low as $8 a bottle - no brainer.

Schild Moscato - again, another fresh option. If youre in SA, visit the cellar door for a bargain

There are others but preference around reisling, sauvignon blanc etc is personal and becomes more expensive.

You could also consider Rosè or Sparkling Shiraz. For the latter, highly recommended Bleasdale NV.

Eh, go to somewhere like Just wines and order a mixed case for $70 or whatever. $6 or $8 a bottle, take the whole case. They will all be drinkable and if they aren’t, open the next bottle

I bought this wine several weeks ago for a party. It went down well. Not too sweet, not too dry.

It's $12 per bottle for Dan Murphy members. Membership is free.

This stuff is good value and these guys regularly post good deals on here so I'm happy to support them. It comes from SA and takes about a week to arrive interstate.

Oh… very much a matter of taste.

These might be be OK for someone who doesn't drink a lot of wine.

Maybe just head down to your local Dan Murphy's and talk to one of the sales staff about your needs.

The important thing with wine is you like it. Many's the time I've seem a mid priced wine out perform high status and medal winning wines in blind tastings.

My preference is Semi-Sav (Fifth Leg) > Sav (Koa) > Sparkling (Yarra Burn)
Moscato sweet AF, got me into wines when I was 15 but won't drink something so sweet now.

Btw, quite a few of the Aldi whites have won awards (proper rewards not random), including South Point Estate Pinot Grigio and A.C. Byrne Margaret River Sauvignon Blanc Semillon. Both under $10

    • That's a good suggestion.

  • Thanks everyone for the suggestions, very much appreciated. I think i've got enough to go with.
