5G Home Broadband - is there any difference between iiNet, TPG and Internode?

Hey, just looking for a no lock-in contract for home 5G internet and I noticed that all three providers have the exact same plans, website and even the promo code is the same… So obviously it makes me wonder if there is any difference between the three or should I just pick one of them randomly?

I'm also open for suggestions if there are other ISPs out there with a better offer… I'm after a 50Mbs plan.

Edit:
For anyone that wondered… I installed the TPG modem yesterday (I went for the 100Mbps plan as it was only $5 more than other plans) aaaand… I'm yet to see stable 10Mbps connection. Generally, it's around 5-7Mbps. Just pathetic. I'm not sure how they can sleep at night offering 50 and 100 Mbps plans and delivering around 5-10% of that speed only…

Ahead of any questions - I have 5/5 bars 5G reception on the modem.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND… I'm so happy it was a free month.

Internode have their own Helpdesk if I'm not mistaken?

But yes, they're all owned by TPG Telecom and utilise the same or largely the same backbone network.

5G Home Broadband run thought Vodafone, avoid

    • Oh yeah, good point, I'd forgotten this was about 5G.
It'll all be via Vodafone (also owned by TPG Telecom)

      Avoid why?

I can't speak for TPG's Home 5G, but I know my mobile 5G coverage with them is pretty bad compared to my Optus SIM (both in the same device). Having said that, TPG do offer 1 month free and the ability to cancel in that period if you aren't happy, so it wouldn't hurt to give it a try and see if it meets your needs for your particular location.

        • I think that's what I'm going to do… You can't go wrong on one-month free policy :)

Before signing up, one would actually do a speed test on their mobile phone 5G data plan first to test their network. Vodafone network 5G has quite high ping times compared to NBN. But whatever I dont give a f about it. All I care about is PRICE, speed, consistency, reliability.

It's usually vodafailed unless you are living under the tower. I have given them two goes and still failed.
And their coverage map is fake too, at least Telstra/Optus little honest about their coverage map.
Sure you can always try their free month of frustration.

        • I guess there is no other way to find out than giving it a go…

There are only 3 real mobile communications companies in OZ. Some of the rest are owned by these three and some a VMNO (V===Virtual).

So no surprises that you found TPG Telecom Pty Ltd and it's subsidiaries have the same code.

The three real mobile communicatiosn companies are:
    1) Telstra
    2) Optus
    3) TPG Telecom

If you were being offer 5G speeds of around 150 Mbps @$68 a month plus free 5G modem would ya have taken it ?OP?

You are already considering Vodafone network. My strong suggestion is for you to go directly with vodafone especially given they got 6 months promo for 100 Mbps speed 5G unlimited home internet for $55 bucks a month, + 1st month free. (essentially 6 months, you only pay $275) + dont forget to get CASHBACK from SB/CR easy $30-40. So 6 months is only $245 ish cost. After 6 months you'll probably need to churn Vodafone or something like that

    • Nice one, I wasn't aware of the cashback…

    • Any difference after 2 weeks?

      • +1

Yes, so turned out it was a week-long maintenance after which it's been gradually improving and now I'm getting around 30-50Mbps but keep in mind I'm paying for 100Mbps and getting the 50Mbps plan speeds…

I have to admit that they raised the ticket to the engineering team which had contacted me a few times to follow up but they can't fix the broken infrastructure…

All in all I would take their half price deal for 6 months and then looks for a better provider… ;)
