International Trip on Christmas Day from Sydney - Book a Car Rental with Airport Drop off OR taxi/cab?

I have an international trip coming up on Christmas Day leaving at 9.30AM from Sydney. We are family of 3 and wondering what the best mode of travel to airport would be on that day from Parramatta surroundings.
I can get a Hertz corporate offer which has airport drop off fees waived off so could get a rental car for 1 day picked up on 24th and drop off at the airport on 25th early morning 6AM. Do you reckon the traffic would be manageable and if this a viable option?
This turns out to be much cheaper (more than 50% cheaper) than booking at luggage cab.

Getting a mate to drop us is off the table since it would be too early in the morning for them and most have holiday plans as well.
Train/bus might be off as well as we will have big luggage and the SO wouldn't be too keen on this.

Not worth the hassle, just get an $80 Uber on the day. Guessing you'll want to leave around 6 AM, can't imagine packed roads on Christmas Day.

About $20 per person each on the train.

How much is car rental? That'll answer it for you.

    • The train wouldn't be running on Christmas day would it?

      • No trains run on Christmas Island on Christmas Day.

Why would public transport stop on Christmas Day?

        • Public transport doesn’t operate in London on Christmas day.

          • @jjjaar: And we're in Australia …

            • @kerfuffle: But it’s not far fetched that it could happen.

To answer your “why”, so PT staff can have the day off to be with family.

They do indeed in Sydney. They operate on a Sunday service timetable on public holidays.

I meant it more as a frame of reference though i.e. $60 on train for three people with luggage and having to change trains vs $80 Uber straight to airport.

        • I see, yes good point. 3+ people definitely better to get a taxi or Uber. 2 people is a toss-up

        • Yeah, 3 people + luggage is not worth the access fee cost and luggage lugging effort in the train!

    • Rental's coming to $57 per day for an SUV. But considering the toll, insurance and petrol costs as mentioned by the other user, Uber seems to be the best.
      Thanks!

Just take a taxi or Uber and avoid all hassles.

Don’t forget tolls, insurance and petrol on top of rental car cost. Just book an Uber or a taxi. Probably spend 10k on the trip an extra $50 isn’t going matter much.

Ah, didn't consider these costs. Uber seems a no-brainer. I'd been tossing over the rental option for a few weeks now. Glad I posted here and got all these perspectives.
      Cheers!
