Dual App / Cloned App Options for Motorola (and Similar) Phones

Dual App / Cloned app allows you to run the same app as two separate apps each with their own settings and logins. Especially useful for Whatsapp or a food delivery app on a dual SIM phone, each copy of the app is associated with one of the SIMs.

With all the recent JB sales for Motorola phones I decided to upgrade and then discovered that Motorola with their near stock Android do not support the dual app feature. I understand there are other brand phones that also do not support dual app.

(Really beginning to wonder if my ‘upgrade’ from a LG V40 ThinQ to the Moto Edge 30 Pro is worth it, but that another story!)

Using the work profile feature of Android is one option to run another copy of the app it is own environment. Apps like Shelter and Island enable this for you.

However, I already have the work profile on the phone being used for work so looking for an alternative.

There seem to be many options on the Play store for apps that provide this with names like Dual App, Dual Space, Parallel Space, 2 Accounts, etc.

Don’t mind paying for it of it means no Ads and they don’t leak your personal data.

Any recommendations on which of these dual app managers to use?

Yes, Xiaomi has it inbuilt, very handy. With it, you can even "dual" a dual App.

I think it neees to be built by the manufacturer not simply generic app we can download from store

    • There are quite a few apps on the play store that allow you to do this. I tested Dual App Lite with a food deliver app and it seems to work OK. I could have both apps open at the same time, logged into diffrent accounts and with diffrent orders in the cart. I could swipe between apps easily, however if I tapped the cloned app icon it would relaunch the app and I would lose my position in the app, it did however maintain the login details.
it also did not work with app that rely on 'google services', like the Google Calendar app.

  • LG V40 ThinQ to the Moto Edge 30 Pro is worth it,

I went from LG V30 to Fusion 20 and miss my old LG. But the battery on the LG was gone, an average of 3 hours, while with the Moto I have about 36 hours. BUT …. the camera …. I miss the camera
