Good price for a reliable hot weather performer

FYI, ongoing longneck offer and should be available for an extended time (like the Coopers/Hollandia/Little Creatures..).
Also, scan a registered rewards card and every 10th longneck is free (3 bottles max per day count towards the 10).

    • Is that every 10th bottle or 4-pack?

      • +4

Bottle. Say if over time you had gone over 10 bottles purchased previously and were owed a free bottle next purchase, this Sol deal would cost you $12 for 4 longnecks (price is calculated per bottle at POS price).
However, if owed a free longneck and you only went to purchase one, you don't pay anything, it's free.

        • So let’s say you buy this deal on 3 separate days, you’d get a free bottle? $36 for 13

            @NotBritishorUK:

3 bottles max per day count towards the 10

            • +1

              @kiriakoz: Yep, 3 separate days, so 3 x 3 is 9 and you get the 10th free

Even if you have to go a 4th time, buy this deal on 4 separate days, $48 for 17

A case of 12 normally costs more than that

    • Does the 10th free work with 0nline orders??

    Brewed in Amsterdam, by Heineken

    • +1

Thats weird should be from mexico.

      • +8

Maybe brewed by Mexicans in Amsterdam.

      • +3

The version of Sol we get here hasnt been brewed in Mexico for years (unless you're lucky to find a direct import from mexico). Its been brewed in Amsterdam for a quite a while now. Although its better than international beers brewed under license in Australia or even worse China, im not a fan of the Amsterdam brewed version of Sol.

It’s marketing is a bit like Stella Artois’,
Stella Artois has a history that is as rich as the flavour you find in each bottle. The brewery was established in the city of Leuven, Belgium in 1366 and was quickly beloved locally and internationally. 600 years of practice makes perfect.
          Origin: Australia

          • +1

@Stewardo: These are just basic lager though. Just like Sol, it doesn't really matter where your Stella is made - it's just a lager. Nobody is buying it for it's complex flavour 😁

            • +1

@Nom: Good point, which one would you recommend with the complex flavour?

              • +1

@dtanna79: Basically anything that isn't a lager, they're pretty much the least tastiest beer.

              • +1

@dtanna79: Modelo, when you can find it.

    • Just get Heineken..

    Bizarre .. it's a Mexican beer ..🤔 .??

The big 5 brewing companies in the world buy up all the brands, then make world famous beers wherever it’s cheaper in mega factories. Products never taste the same but it’s more cost effective/cheaper. So it’s popular so it just increases their market share.
Sol is just an easy to drink watery lager, with good marketing, it’s not like the Dutch need a Mexican recipe to make lager. But it markets well. Clear bottles are also terrible for beer.

  • Don’t mind this one, it’s alright

These are great with a few chunks of lime stuffed in the neck. Very smashable in warm weather!

NB, the carton price for longnecks ($16 x 3) is the same as the individual bottles, in fact it's $1 cheaper for members. Less the $2.40 bottle refund, the carton of 330ml bottles is marginally cheaper.

  • The days when a talley is never 750mL anymore..

    • It's (just shy of) 2 x 330ml euro cans.

      • +1

yeah good enough for the price i think, refuse to buy 330mL cans/stubd too - PAY MORE GET LESS these days

        • +2

As above, the 24x330ml carton is cheaper, given you get the extra $1.20 in bottle refund.

          • @The Judge: Fair enough.
Every dollar counts on here i guess.

    better call sol

    • sol good, mouse

    • +1

      Sol'd

  • only 4.2%, not worth it

    • So just spike it with liquor, or make a Tequiza.

    • You buying for taste or alcohol. If you want to get pissed then buy the cheapest you can get. If it's taste and flavour and an enjoyable drink what does a few % points mean.

  • +3

    Swill. Absolute swill.

    • Must be old.. even corona is considered cat's piss in Mexico.

I bought these years back just to get some long neck bottles for homebrew… By the end of them I was almost turned off beer altogether. Makes me cry thinking about it

  • I don't drink any more but I remember these being $16 for three (normal price at BWS) like 5 years ago. Has the price really gone up that much?

    • +2

This deal is $16 for 4… Sooo negative inflation?

      • +1

I might be gaslighting myself into thinking that's was regular price, when I'm sure now it was the discounted price.

  • Great price on one of my favourite summer beers, but I got this on checkout:

"Oh no! Something doesn't seem right and we couldn't proceed with your order. Please contact Our Customer Service Team on 1300 138 297 for further assistance."

I'm not going to jump through those hoops for this deal.

  • Any deals on beer?

    • Asahi is best value with 5%, got it from FC few days ago was $51 with 20% cashback and bonus 2,000 flybuys ($10) .. so it cost about $30.80

  • Thanks, got 4 bottles. Btw same offer applies to Hollandia long neck.
