Amazon Verfiying Card information? Needs a card number on bank statement?

Just recently made a new amazon account to buy some new shoes and the next day I got an email say that my Amazon account is temporarily on hold for unusual activity, even though I was the one making the purchase. Anyways I'm trying to follow the instruction to try and get m account unlocked but I'm stuck at the part where they're asking me for my bank statement? They said I need a Bank Statement with my last four digit of my card on there too. But so far I can't find or make a bank statement that has both information in one document. So I'm just a little bit lost to what I need to provide to amazon to get my account off being on hold?

  • Contact them. They have some of the best customer support around.

  • They probably suspect you're using a stolen credit card details.

      Pretty much it. lol

  • This is why I recommend using gift cards to pay. Amazon won't cancel because the risk passes to the issuer. eBay however, is an anomaly, and it is not recommended to pay with gift cards on that platform.

  • But so far I can't find or make a bank statement that has both information in one document.

The "bank statement" they are referring to is your monthly credit card statement, from the bank that issued your card. The statement should show both your name & address and your card number somewhere in the document.

It is common for retailers to sometimes ask for a copy of a statement, as an additional layer of security that you actually own the credit card that you are using for the purchase.

    • Maybe they used their Debit Mastercard or Visa to buy the item

      • In that case, OP would need to also attach something like an "account confirmation" letter from the bank which shows the account number & also the last 4 digits of the card number.

For my CBA account, I can generate this online using netbanking under Account information —> Detailed Account Summary. If OP's bank doesn't offer this online facility, then they would need to get in touch with their bank and ask for a copy of this letter.

        • Hi Vikvance, thank you for your advice, wasn't aware that this was a thing until you brought it up.

I've made the purchase on a debit card linked to Revolut, which I was able to make purchases before on Amazon before this issue came up,
None of my debit card bank statements ever included my card number details. I've tried getting a account information letter but wasn't able to, but tried to send a "Card confirmation" document statement to Amazon, which had my details as well as the card numbers but that didn't work too as it didn't have any transaction statements on it. I've also tried to send both in one pdf file but apparently they are specific in having it in one continuous form, so I'm a bit at a loss to what I need to send.
