Super Soaker Expertise Please (Free Cheeseburger)

Hey Ozbargainerzzz!

I’m wanting opinions on the best (default best value OzB4life..) “super soaker”
I have a 7,6,5 year old crew with a joint Christmas get together that requires some out of pool fun in the QLD summer 💦

I’m losing my dad sh!t trying to find a good capacity, not stupid priced, finger triggered (after a few pumps) water gun.

Old Man Rant ….; I had a 1.5ltr gun that could shoot 15meters from a trigger after maybe 5 pumps as a kid, but seems electronic guns are the go (outrageous price so die)

Anyone know a good tap refillable (no pool) ‘super soaker’
That’s available online or in-store under $30 a pop that holds at least a litre and has a trigger shot (not pump only) that isn’t plastic landfill by next Christmas time

  • Best suggestion that leads to a buy gets a free cheeseburger from McDonalds!
(Yes i’m that desperate and sick of crappy online reviews that want to sell up non bargain rubbish)

What do you consider an “outrageous price”. A budget is always handy. And if you want it to last until next Christmas, you might be better buying quality over a bargain.

Either way, look at the Xshot “fast fill” range. The regular and large are the pump type (they are not the pump up to pressure type though) They will be about $20 to $50 each depending on the size you get. That being said, just noticed the age of the kids. Maybe no good for them as they require a lot of pumping.

Other thing to try is to find electric ones on Aliexpress and find one with lots of sales and plenty of reviews. They seem to range from about $50 to $90 for decent electric ones.

    • Thanks mate!
Around the $30 mark and again pumps only is a no go given the age.
Electric is kool as but priced out due to the ozbargain spirit within, cheap but good value, serves purpose or price error honoured lol

At that age they might have more fun with handgun sized pistols, instead the bigger long gun style. 1.5L of water is 1.5kg of weight, plus the weight of the gun, is your five year old really going to be having much fun with it in their little arms? Will they be strong enough to pump it?

    • My 6yr old kid can deadlift 25kg so weight is ok lol
Pistol is fine and ‘hand pistols’ are fine though most now are pump only unless you get a poor capacity toy, sadly these don’t last long too so they’re out as a trigger is where I remember the game begins and the pump is means to an end

I was shopping for something like this a decade ago… I feel your pain OP.

I also wanted tap refillable, non powered, trigger activated and pump compressed. Thankfully, I didn't have do shop for three at a time. I'm not happy to say I didn't have success.

One thing I do recall, is that @AustriaBargain is right about the being strong enough to pump it. My kid struggled.

    • I can’t find a link to that user tebbybabes?
It’s a roller coaster for sure mate, TBH i’m over dading it because a tap and a hose is best practice, but kids these days need what we wanted back then as standard lol
If we can’t have for them what we wanted as them are we really living what we wanted as them?

Within a @tightarse budget if course!
      (Hey buddy)

Have you considered a big ol pile of water balloons instead? My kiddos and their cousins (6-11yrs) have a blast with them

I usually just buy a pack of these per kid - https://www.bigw.com.au/product/zuru-crazy-bunch-o-balloons-…

    • Thanks mate, bit hard for the kids to tie but one day maybe

You dont tie these ones. They just hook onto the tap, fill and you pull them off. They are self sealing.

In a similar position for summer, except looking at having better cannons for mum n dad 😉 which is looking to be these:

Seem to be the best reviewed

    • Cheers spack, i came across this from reviews alone but the pump is awkward for kids i’ve read, though the ‘big kids’ will definitely have fun with them!

Slightly out of your budget, but you may find for $30 if you are lucky.

My kids have the Nerf Super Soaker XP100 and it seems to match your requirements, except the RRP being slightly higher.

I got them for about $32 from my local independent toy shop, and the kids love them.

This is exactly what i’m after and i’m willing to pay the extra!

Glad I could help. I don't need a cheeseburger though - that is what this community is for.

      • The XP50-AP seems a good strong choice too, and they can just fill from the top of the gun (no need to take the water bottle out like the XP100)

    • These two even look like the super soakers of old! Brilliant!

MyDeal has the Super Soaker XP30 which I remember using as a kid for $22 which seems to meet your criteria of pump to compress the air, and trigger to release… they seem to be the only place with sufficient stock. You'll have to pay for delivery, but it doesn't seem too bad (especially if you're buying multiple).
