Am I Blacklisted by JB Hi-Fi?

I used some of the shared $10 perk coupons from the thread to buy some stuffs from JB Hi-Fi. and I am receiving following email:

We have conducted a review of your purchase history with JB Hi-Fi Online and have identified that you are in breach of our JB Hi-Fi Perks terms and conditions.
……
……
We advise you not to place any further orders with us, as we will not be accepting any future orders from you.

As such, can I request to refund all my unused gift card to back to money?

    some

    Ah huh, how many accounts?

    • Just one account, ozbargain have a share code thread for someone to share their unused code.

      • Just one account

… and how many gift cards did you try to cash in all at once? (or the $10 coupons, rather.)

          • +1

@ozmaxz: Wait, so how many codes have you tried to actually use?

          • +1

@ozmaxz: Can't tell if you are serious or not here that you used "few hundreds".

            • +3

@jace88: obviously we were not on the same page. She asked for coupon thing and I answer for how many unused gift card I have left over. few hundreds

          • +2

            @ozmaxz: Legend 😂😂😂

      • +13

        Yep, and you used two

Thought of saving some for others?

        • +1

          That'd do it, I reckon.

          Tough luck, OP.

          • +3

@ozmaxz: lol - you exploited their system and got caught. Just start a new account or shop in store.

  • +1

    Yes

    • -2

so I can do this instore?

      • +1

What is the relationship between gift card and blacklisted account?

You can create 2nd account and use it.

          • +26

            @ozmaxz:

if I am not welcome by them. Why should I to let them to make money from me.

lol my man you are In the wrong here. No point having a tit for tat mentality over an issue like this..

Rather than asking them to ‘refund your gift cards’ , just make use of them and be done with it. No point being petty like this.

              @Gervais fanboy:

Rather than asking them to ‘refund your gift cards’

Actually I kind of want to see OP try to walk into a JB Hi-fi and get a money 'refund' for a whole bunch of $10 coupons from a one-per-customer sign-up perk.

              • +1

@whatwasherproblem: I think you misunderstand my point here. I am asking whether I can request to refund unused gift card (not coupon, not for the order).

                • +2

@ozmaxz: There's a classifieds section here in the forums to sell them. You can sell them at 50% off.

              • +2

@whatwasherproblem: Na I think Op’s got some actual gift cards too…

                • -2

@Gervais fanboy: @ozmaxz @Gervais fanboy Ah, righto, yeah I did misinterpret that. That doesn't sound as ridiculous as I was thinking it was.

Fair enough OP. That actually sounds like it's something you should check with the JB Hi-Fi staff. If you've got unused gift cards that you bought legitimately then you have a right to a refund for those, I'd say.

            • -1

@Gervais fanboy: It is nothing not about me.
They told me <b>We advise you not to place any further orders with us, as we will NOT be ACCEPTING any FUTURE orders from you.</b>.
If I am not allowed to buy stuff from them. What can I do with those gift cards in this context?

                @ozmaxz: Use them instore?

I understand where you are coming from but people here have already advised you on how to bypass that suspension..
You refusing to go down that route is you ‘seemingly’ being bitter about the whole thing.

Anyways, I don’t think anyone 100% knows the answer you are looking for.
Coz I have read their T&C’s too and they haven’t addressed situations like the one you are in…Just those generic ‘JB reserves the right to’ etc
You’ll just have to just contact them to find out for yourself.
Do let us know too. Good luck.

    Oh no - anyway

    • +3

Some other guy got banned from JB for exploiting perks and still had their order rejected. Customer service also sent them a (profanity) of email too.

      • Did this happen for this promotion?

        • Yep for exploiting the perks program. How many perks codes did you use in one account and have you used the previous $10 in that account before?

          • -2

@HairyChickens: I used 3, two from others. Actually it is my first time I use perk coupon, previous welcome coupon I forgot using it. I haven't tried to use my account to place an order yet after getting this email. But I am curious what will happen if I try to order something. Order will be automatically cancelled and refund the money back?

            • @ozmaxz: I mean you can buy something cheap and see what happens

              • @HairyChickens: Nah, I don't want to take any more risk on this. I will probably create a new account to spend all the rest gift card during black friday/xmas sales.

            • @ozmaxz: How many orders have you placed with these 3 coupons? I don't think using other people's coupons should cause a permanent ban. If a legitimate person got a code and gave it to you , and the system allows you to use it, it should be fine? T&C doesn't say anything about this scenario.

              • @gao234: I can think of two situations that triggered this.

                1. It was possible to place multiple orders with the same code if the time frame was quite short.

                2. OP used the $10 codes in quick succession triggering an alter to JB. (Probs because so many OzBargainers were exploiting the perks during the pilot program)

              • @gao234: What do you mean how many orders placed with 3 coupons? Shouldn't be one order one coupon. I was not aware of I breach their T&C before I got that email, who gonna read T&C before sign up perks? haha.

                • @ozmaxz: They had a bug in the system that you could place many orders with the same coupon. Have you collected all the 3 orders before you got the email?

              • @gao234:

If a legitimate person got a code and gave it to you , and the system allows you to use it, it should be fine? T&C doesn't say anything about this scenario.

I did this when I used my family's codes and they flagged my acc, cancelled all my orders. My acc still works but yeah, learn from my shitty experience. They never sent me an email - I only found out when I went to pick up my item. I said there was no point bring my entire family to pick up the item so I ordered from my acc and staff understood where I was coming from but said there's no way to change the orders as it was an automatic system flag. But they said to use our own individual accounts rather than multiple codes from one acc.

      • Did they post the email? Wonder what it said

  • +2

Use a different email, buy a cheap starter pack to get a new number and just create another account…

  • -2

It's only jbhifi - in reality they are doing you a favour

  • +6

I want to know what the bits you've conveniently snipped out of the email say :D

    • The ellipses are awfully convenient…

  • +7

Just go in store and use the gift card, they dont know what you look like right? If they do wear disguises. Ask someone else to order and pick up for you. Go to another JB store.

There is no chance any gift card providers will refund your gift card because you got yourself banned lol

  • +7

Are you sure that was the breach? Or could it have been because you included <b>html tags</b> in your delivery address?

  • +2

Walk into store, spend gift cards.
Not a chance you'll get a refund for them.

Perhaps this could be a teaching moment for you :)

  • if you walked into a store, they would not know the difference between you and a bar of soap.

  • +4

Just tell them it wasn’t you but someone using your leaked Medibank data 👍

What a great read this morning, very entertaining 🤣

I wouldn't want you as a customer anyway ! Try Gerry next ?

  • +2

If JB can just fix it by limiting one coupon use per account per event, no action needs to be taken by either side. Human review is a waste of human resource.

Coupon strictly links to the account for online use.

Last 4 digit of phone number as PIN for instore use.

  • Another person was banned from previous $10 Perks: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/709925?page=1#comment-1235… (Thanks for the link @akte)

    • -2

lol. it is the time ask JB to refund my gift cards.

      • You were unlucky as there are people here who used more vouchers than you.

      • +1

They're not gonna convert your gift cards to cash. You broke their rules, not them

  • Got the same email as i tried to use one of my family members jb perks code. “ We have conducted a review of your purchase history with JB Hi-Fi Online and have identified that you are in breach of our JB Hi-Fi Perks terms and conditions.

Our website's terms of sale allow JB Hi-Fi without limitation to cancel orders (refer clause: 7.1). As such, we will be cancelling the orders that are currently in progress. We will also process a refund today back to your original payment method. Where you have paid for your orders via gift card, you will receive a separate email with replacement e-card.

We advise you not to place any further orders with us, as we will not be accepting any future orders from you.

    Kind Regards”

    • +1

That's not good. Why would they refund you a JB gift card when they don't allow you to shop there? Ironic. How many vouchers have you used before JB cancelled? We didn't get the email and used 2 vouchers from here. One under my name and the other under my name and husband's (billing). Both purchases under my account and we picked up this morning. Looks like JB now only allows 2 perks max per account each promo.

      • I don’t see why they would allow more than 1 per account.

      • I had used a few, mostly from the past deals when they resent another $10 coupon so say around 5. All these were from numbers of family members. I suspect this had something to do with me getting a price match and then using jb perks.

        • Isn’t the intent that each account holder would use their own perks voucher on their own account? I am struggling to see why anyone is surprised this is being shut down. I have no issue with anyone doing it, just think it’s to be expected that the free ride ends.

          • @morse: Yep, i didnt realise that it could get me banned from jb. ill take this as a learning lesson

        • I don't think price matched orders are under any account. I have placed some price matched orders but none of them are shown in my order history. The only place I can find these orders is my email.

          • @gao234: Price matched orders are coming up under my account. My account has not been disabled, more that if i place an order it goes thru but then cancels 1 min later…

            • @Quarter Pounder: Interesting, never thought price matched orders could be in your account. When I did price match from the online chat, they gave me a link of a cart, which has the discounted item in it. And there was nowhere to login my account on that page, so I had to finish the process as a guest. During the checkout, I did type in my name, email, phone and billing address which are the same as my JB account but I could never find these orders in the orders history of my account.

  • +2

Jbhifi said that to me twice actually. Guess what? I've placed hundreds of orders since. New account, new address, new phone number. Same name.

Jbhifi will under no circumstances issue you a refund for gift cards, even if you are blacklisted. You can use these in store anytime (store staff don't know that you are blacklisted) or you can do a guest check out online with fresh details.

    • Hope this can help all the OzBers in OP's situation. Have you successfully collected your new online orders under your name after your personal details being blacklisted by JB? How to pass their id verification during pickup?

      • Their 'blacklist' isn't enforceable at the store level. Simple as that. They dont have a naughty list in store. It's only for online and it's only if you log in with same account and details etc. They've seen my ID heaps of times, do you seriously think people at every store know who is blacklisted online? It's impossible.

        • It makes sense now. Thanks for sharing this.

    • +1

Are you in disguise? Different moustaches?

      • +1

I don't believe you're serious, but I'll entertain this line of idiocy nonetheless. No disguise is needed, its an online blacklist - how on earth would they know what your face looks like? Also, jbhifi staff have the memory of a housefly, their stores are extremely busy and they deal with hundreds if not thousands of customers per day. None of them recognise me and I'm in there almost every day of the week.

    • Does it work with the same 'blacklisted' address on new accounts?

      • I haven't tried that, so I don't know. You could try. Worst case scenario the order gets rejected and they refund you.

        • When collecting the order, does it matter if the address on ID is different from the new address in the new account?

  • The same thing happened to me. Just walk into JB hifi and explain what happened and they'll give you a full refund for the gift cards plus an extra 10% for the inconvenience.

    • +1

You sure not an extra 20%?

    • +1

      Nice sarcasm

  • Jb online system is sh**. If they cannot manage perks why they send at first place. I have had this conversation with their reps as when ever i am placing online order it failed verification. Apparently after talking to their team i came to know that due to abusing their perks system they have blacklisted my account and as a result i cannot buy online.
Earlier was in limbo like op as gift cards only had jb on it now i dont give a sh** and agree with op. If jb dont want me to purchase anything online i show them a finger and spend my money somewhere else. Officework is the best option i found as an alternative…excellent customer service as well. Jb online chat or email team only have two rude /worst customer service reps sitting behind the keyboard telling same everytime when you talk to them.
We cannot.do anything just buy in stores or go somewhere else.

    • Are you still tracked and blacklisted if you check out as a guest using the same details? So not sign into account.

    • -5

exactly, some ppl above still think those JB hifi staffs abuse power is the right thing. For just $10 coupons, they ban a customer straight away without giving any kind of warming. They can't build their system properly, which allows to use others' coupon. What fk know it is against their rule. Compare to other online system, coupon is only valid for the account itself.
Also, look at those email sent to https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/709925?page=1#comment-1235…. Those words makes me so uncomfortable. What a sh
business with a group of arrogant staffs.

      • How much did you spend each purchase?
If you used 3 vouchers on 3 seperate $10 items so basically paid nothing and got 3 $10 items for free I can see why they banned you but if each of your purchases were say $50+ so you essentially paid $40+ of your own money for each of your transactions then I’d be surprised they’d be too worried considering they would have banked $120+ from you.

  • Yes. Its linked to the mobile number. Risk is even if you change your number highly likely paying via gcs again put you in to blqcklist. Once blacklist it remains forever. I have tried sorting this out multiple times but jb online team is worst and they wont sort it out as they dont know how to deal with it.
It was painful not to use online services conveniently if they have available. But now since i found ultimate gc listed ow recently i always give business to them
