Free Entry to Fitness First on Presentation of Your American Express Card

250

Just received a flyer in the mail today which reads:

"Trade Happy Hours for Happy Days - present your American Express Card for free entry to Fitness First on Tuesdays and Thursdays in July"

It goes on to say that it can be used on any Tuesday or Thursday in July to attend classes or just workout for free. Apparently the casual rate is usually $25.

To gain free entry you need to show your Amex card at reception, and you can invite a friend along for a freebie as well each time you visit.

"As well as receiving free entry, you will also be pressured into signing a yearly contract."

    • +1

I wonder if they'd let you pay with AMEX on that yearly contract?

      • Yes they would. I am paying my membership with AMEX.

Fitness first salespeople should be sent to the gallows. scum of the earth.

      • Goodlife are also terrible. But the rest of the staff are very friendly. Sales people in general…

      • +1

When I was a student, I got bad credit because of Fitnessfirst.

They signed me up to a contract without telling me.

        • My general rules is never give direct debit details…to anyone…ever!

        • The guy took my credit card and in my naivete I thought it was for ID.

        • Ouch. That sucks man.

Last time my friend "won" a day for free at Fitness First. Showed up all ready to go, and was told she still would have to sign up. Feeling inclined to neg this unless someone can prove that it is possible to walk in and make use of this without harassment or conditions.

    • I've done a gym trial before and I did need to fill in a certain amount of paperwork…basically disclaimers and other 'cover your arse if you break your leg' documentation. I have no issue with this, and when I told them a firm no after my trial that was pretty much that.

      • Thanks, that's useful to know. Wonder if that's across the board, though.

given ff's reputation, i doubt it very much.. lol

    • My gf has been taking me on her membership with free entry on weekends - usually have to sign in each time like RSL club sign in, (sometimes just get waved through) and they haven't called me yet.

  • Is free entry to FF that hard to acquire?

Every so often they set up stalls @ Shopping Centres or outside their CBD gyms handing out free passes.

Then there are offers for members to bring friends etc.

I am sure I could walk up to a FF and ask for a 1 or 2 week trial.

FF want as many peeps to come in for a trial as possible, to maximise this ‘numbers game’.

  • Hi, is it possible to scan (and post link to ) the flyer you've received ? Thanks

  • Been to many of their different free trials. After the initial trial, they contacted me and I told them I was already a member somewhere else. Since then no more calls.
I use the free trials since it's convenient as there are so many Fitness Firsts to choose from.

      • FF offered a free trial, and the offer was accepted by rndmnss. What's unethical about that?

      • +1

The paying members who no doubt started on a "free trial"? If they don't have sufficient equipment to run such promotions, then they shouldn't run them. Simple.

Ahh paintoad… intended or otherwise…the permanent troll of ozbargain…

T&Cs on these trials always state they're only for first time users.

"The paying members who no doubt started on a "free trial"? If they don't have sufficient equipment to run such promotions, then they shouldn't run them"
Yes, these members did the trial once, decided they liked the product and then signed up. Not continually exploiting the system.

        • +4

what FF do you go to PainToad? I'm going to come and hog all the equipment :D

        • -4

I actually belong to Goodlife, but the price/trial principle is the same.

I have pointed out why it is unethical yet all I got was vote downs and no logical response.

Some people here need to understand there's a difference between being a bargain hunter and cheapskate leech.

FF are struggling financially at the moment and the last thing they need is pathetic losers taking advantage of their system. Grow up.

        • This pathetic loser is heading to the gym then to be as cool as you :D

        • Still no actual content or logic.

PainToad..you should stop being so cheap and go join virginActive…Much more equipment than any FF and you won't find any douchbags like yourself there. You could be the first!!!! :D

        • I belong to Goodlife, and there's nothing "cheap" about their membership fees.

      • -1

Cheap unethical doughbags?! what the hell are you doing on ozbargin?
I think the saying goes…don't have the player, hate the game!

  • Is this all fitness first, even the platinum clubs?

    • Just called up Chaddie FF which is a platinum club and they confirmed the deal is indeed on :)

  • Make sure to sign up with a fake mobile number :)
