Robot Vacuum Recommendations - Non Mapping/Navigating

Can anyone recommend a good robot vacuum? I have an open plan, hard floor space and don't want mapping/navigation. Random bumping around does the job very well (actually better than the smart ones). I don't really need the self emptying feature or mopping. Less than $400 would be great. Thanks.

    You want mapping and navigation

    Trust me.

    • Had a bad experience with an Ecovacs N8. Random does a great job for my space. Not a spot missed.

Random bumping around does the job very well (actually better than the smart ones).

    Really?

    • Yes, for my simple space the random doesn't miss a spot. Probably depends a lot on your space.

      • They are never truly random though.

I just wipe down my robot with a damp cloth.

  • budget $400 for a dumb robovac ?

maybe get 5x kogan robovac, remember seeing $80ea for bottom barrel model

    • Looking for good quality/reliability

      • Honestly I think you're unlikely to find a dumb robot vac that is high quality.

The quality manufacturers use mapping since it typically does a better job (even if not in your case).

        • Thanks, I thought that might be the case.

More junk to throw out in ten years , no time to vacuum anymore ?

How is throwing out a robot vacuum any different to throwing out a normal vacuum? What is your point?

Do you own a robot vac?

They're not a replacement for a normal vac, they just keep the place a LOT cleaner between manual vacuuming.

Hi freddo, I have the eufy RoboVac 35C. Got it half price ($199) from JB hi-fi. Search deals and you'll see three posts last year at that price.

It's pretty dumb but definitely does the job for us. We have a fairly open plan downstairs with wooden floors and one big thick rug that it handles fine. I make sure to tidy up our kids toys etc before I run it and block off a corner that it gets stuck in. Floor always feels much nicer to walk on after it's been on.

Looks like JB only have the 25c model now, there's some comparisons online but seems to be almost the same.

    I wouldn't pay $400. $200 is a decent price.

    • Thanks very much

    Yeedi Vac 2 Pro … 3000 pa suction … 5000mah + battery (from memory) ..
    Oscillating Mopping …
It was $389 on 22% off ebay plus sale recently … $409 on Amazon when you apply voucher … excellent quality/specs for the price.

I bought this is early December from Amazon for about $389- for the money I think it is good. I previously had a Neato XV21. The mopping functionality works well also. It will skip rugs when in mopping mode (it can't lift the mop). My house is all hardwood floors. The first run of the vacuum it looks like it will skip edges, but once the mapping is complete, it does a good job.
