      Data science is about statistical analysis and providing insights, it doesn’t have anything to do with IT security. If anything, hackers releasing private data is useful to data analysts/scientists.

        Yeah, as I would state, cybersecurity specialists can apply data science methodologies to detect intrusions. A data scientist generally is not well equipped for the unstructured data around us. Which really begs the question, are these really proper data scientists if they cannot transform data to provide proper insights? Maybe it is more a symptom of a failed education system.

        Which one is using more data science?

        BTW, I got banned on Whirlpool for even bringing this up.

          Data Scientists are generally glorified statisticians, who know a bit of R or Python.

          There are rare specimens who know and understand data engineering, and even rarer still who understand the business too.
          Those are the real jewels.
          Anyway, the programming has been so dumbed down in the last 20 yrs… Don't even get me started. 😁
