Who's Going to Join The RTX 4080 Club?

Now that the RTX 4080 FE real world reviews are starting to trickle in, I'm interested to see who might consider getting one?

I know we're yet to see pricing on the 3rd party models here in aus - and I have no doubt it will be ridiculous, but the card looks to be a decent performer. Who is going to completely ignore the price-to-performance factor and jump on board? What price are you expecting to see them land at?

Haha I always undervalue my rig big time when the misses have too many questions. New Alienware laptop? Yeah, about $600. RTX3070? yeah got it on sale for $220…

This MEG381CQR ULTRAWIDE? Nah I won it…from where? oh..uhmm a truth telling contents…two towns over… yes that will do.

  • Keeping my 3090 for now, but with the stupid price of the 4080 id rather spend the extra for a 4090 if i do decide to upgrade.

says the guy who has a 3090….

      • +2

You'd be stupid not spend spend 500 more for a 4090 considering the performance difference between the 4080 and 4090

        • +2

The 4090 rrp in AUD is $2959 while the 4080 is $2219.
That's $740 difference or about 33% of the price over that of the 4080

          • @FireRunner: That's for the founders edition which we all know we do not get in Australia so we will only get the more expensive AIB cards.

            • @Axelstrife: Some 4090s are the RRP. Example
Hopefully the 4080s are the same

@FireRunner: a total of 1 card at $2219 so technically you are right haha, next cheapest is over $200 more lol

        • +1

You'd be stoopid not to spend the $1500 more and get the 4090ti when released

          • @qtvinsta: I know you're trying to be funny but you're really not.

Yes you spend more money but when i worked out the cost per frame for the difference between the GPU's the 4090 was better value which is why the 4080 is getting so much shit on it for being so poor value.

  • How much is the membership fee?

I will wait for the melting 16 pin connector issue to be resolved.

    • +1

Don't think of it as a melting connector but rather a new heater for your home 😱

  • Needs poll.

  • I'm probably upgrading somewhere during the 60 series tbh. I dont push my card at all and its a 6800.

Most likely going with AMD this time around. Yeah the 4090 is wild but Nvidia's ethos does not deserve my money.

  • no cant fit it in my Xbx

  • Unless people are really gaming at 4k resolutions what's really the point ? Epeen sizing on the streets ?

Probably will skip this generation and maybe the next. Have a 2080Ti but still end up playing pixel art games and card roguelikes.

  • Still glad I bought my TUF 3080 10GB in April for $1400, has been a great card for all this time. Everyone hodling out for Lovelace back then was saying these 4080s would be back at more normal price points and available much earlier. I’m sure these cards will come down a bit and the 4080 isn’t a great example but these prices are ridiculous but clearly people are still prepared to pay
