28Degrees and Citibank Still The Top Travel Cards for 2023?

Hi All!! Like many, I still have active Citibank (Debit Card) and 28 Degrees/Latitude (Credit Card) from pre-COVID when these were the preferred cards to travel with. I am planning on heading overseas again in 2023 to multiple countries.

Are these still the recommended cards to use overseas to minimize transaction fees and optimize exchange rates?
Is there something anything new & better in the market?
Any tips appreciated.

    • First i wanted to say but up bank is for atm, 28 degree is a credit card.
But then i realiswd we can always use debit card when buying at overseas instead cc.

Yeah we need to have the funds ready — this could be an issue for big impulse buying and without internet to transfer funds.

  • Let me get back to you next year.

    • Bankwest Zero Platinum (looks similar to 28Degrees, but, I may be wrong, doesn't require any spend to activate its complimentary travel insurance)
    • ANZ Travel Rewards (earns points on spends but has annual fee; if you will be spending big, the points earned could offset/exceed the annual fee)
    • ING Orange One (must deposit $1000 and do 5 transactions on related txn account; suits an ING account holder mostly)
  • That citi debit is to take cash from atm.
Do we need to use citi branded atm?(so wont get charged any fee)

  • HSBC Global debit card also allows local currency withdrawal from overseas HSBC atms if you transfer and convert AUD into the respective foreign currency account .
